Had on-tap at Prospectors Pizzeria in Denali, Alaska. Poured into a tulip.
L: Pours a nearly transparent dark brown color. 2 fingers of tannish head leave great lacing.
S: Toasted grains and dark fruits. Caramel and sugars.
T/F: This beer was a big time malt bomb... caramel and dark sugars, cherry and plum, and hints of vanilla from the oak aging. Sticky in mouthfeel. Good carbonation, and increasingly complex as it warms. Boozy and warming... mostly hides the huge ABV.
O: One hell of a big beer. Malty and delicious, and definitely one to sip. Drinks more like an English barleywine, as the 18 months on oak really chills out the hops. Loved this beer.
