A robust porter, pitch black in color with notes of baking chocolate, fresh coffee, and a distinct umami character that sets it apart from your everyday porter.

Named after the term for crude oil, Bunker-C shares its richness and desirability, but is much more affordable than its namesake.

Because of the government economic small business bloodletting I was able to order some mail order from Maryland. This was probably the best beer I got out of the case.

Pours dark brown/black with brown head, 3/4". Its dang close to looking like the perfect porter. The aroma is pure unadulterated no adjunct roasted malt to the gills porter. Very nice, very evil. This beer is not cursed.

Tastes quite nice, and I'll be damned if the commercial tug job wasn't on point about the umami mouth feel aspect to this. All that roasted chocolate malt, adequate hopping, it all pans out nicely instead of being like some intellectual concussion crying about umami because its a new sensation. There is virtually no sweetness to the beer, but it isn't acrid, bitter, dry or ashy.

Literally one of my favorite porters out there immediately after drinking like 3 oz of it. Highly recommended. I know people don't really go for non adjunct porters or stouts, but you really should check this one out.

16 ounce can poured into a Nonic style pint glass.

Pouring clear and dark brown it looks almost black in the glass and shows ruby highlights where light comes through around the edges. The dense, rocky head is one inch thick, mocha brown in color and after a few minutes settles to a frothy ring. Strong malt aromas of roast, semi-sweet chocolate, chocolate brownie and coffee along with more subdued spicy hops make up the persistent nose. Tasting rich and creamy, and in line with the nose, coffee, baking spices, lighter roast and chocolate before finishing bitter with some char. Mouthfeel is soft and medium-full, a little viscous with low-medium carbonation.

Very good. I'm glad I grabbed a four pack when I had the chance.

Beige hear which leaves a near blanket of lace with definitive levels for rings. Dark brown where no light passes through the edge of the glass.

Darker chocolate aroma. Very little sweetness but there's no burnt or coffee smells. I get just a touch of almond, like amaretto.

The taste is slightly sweeter making the chocolate taste more semisweet. A bit of milkiness. The body leans rich but the carbonation compensates. The aftertaste has a chalky element to the tongue.
