Sample on tap at Smaltimore (3/11/14)

A: Dark, dark brown. Collar head with slight lacing. Slightly transparent.

S: Sweet malts. Candi sugar. Plus all of the characteristic Belgian notes.

T: Tastes Belgian. Sweet malts. Caramel. Raisins. Fruit cake and figs.

M: Slight carbonation coarseness.

O: Haven't had too many Doppelbocks but this was a decent version.

Pours dark brown with not much of a head.
Smell is toasted Carmel malts. A bit boozy in the smell as well.
Tastes more Smokey than the usual doppelbock, but thick and cream
Good version of a great style. Nick got two bottles, we'll try it in a few months.
