750ml bottle poured into a Burley Oak pint glass. Bottle # 316 of 420. This was the brewery's first time bottling.
Pours a Dark black some hints of brown but very faint. About a finger or two worth of a tanish head. Smells is of chocolate, coffee, and some bourbon that is not overpowering. Taste is very similar with the chocolate and coffee on the front and the bourbon on the finish. The bourbon works well with this beer. As the beer warms more and more of its bourbon charastics come out. Mouthfeel is great, the beer is very smooth, creamy, and good carbonation.
I really enjoy the regular Bunker C so it was nice to see how it worked with the bourbon barrel. This was a grat beer and I can only hope the team at Burley Oak will make this one again.

Bunker C is Burley Oak's robust porter. This limited bottled release was barrel aged and then bottled for their first anniversary. I was there the day they opened, could not make their anniversary party-the day after a major flood mind you-and was quite pleased to score this bottle. #260 of 420 released. Happy Anniversary guys, we are glad you're here!!!
Nice, black oily appearance. Great dark tan head on top. Deep bourbon aroma with a very mellow, underlying espresso aroma. Slightly oaked though the bourbon certainly dominates. Rich, espresso and dark chocolate flavors which are very nicely balanced against a strong bourbon presence. Nice boozy tinge off the bourbon, not the beer itself. Finish is a bit sticky sweet in spots but has a nice drying to it. Very smooth and almost creamy mouthfeel. A great barrel aged beer all in. I like this better then their usual Bunker C. Nice to see you do not need a massive 10% beer to barrel age. Well done Bryan and crew.
