355ml can. My first ISA, it would seem. Phillips just keeps those 'hopsplosive' hop puns a-comin', don't they?

This beer pours a clear, pale golden yellow colour, with two fingers of puffy, loosely foamy off-white head, which leaves some broad patches of fuzzy lace around the glass as it quickly melts away.

It smells of sweet honeyed caramel malt, bitter citrus cream, acerbic pine resin, and further musty, leafy hops. The taste is bitter orange, lemon and grapefruit pith, some mild tropical fruit notes, fleshy, almost woody pine needles, bready caramel malt, a bit of zingy yeast, and an earthy leafiness.

The bubbles are pretty laid-back, just providing basic support, the body an adequate medium weight, generally smooth, with a slightly frothy airiness that evokes idle thoughts of creaminess. It finishes off-dry, the malt and fruitiness of the hops enough to overcome the push of the still prominent bitterness.

A nicely hopped-up IPA, with an industry-standard 5 points of alcohol - not quite sessionable in the traditional sense, but as far as IPAs these days go, a fair drop-off. However, given the more noticeable grainy, yeasty house flavour going on here, I'm not sure I'd want to drink this all night, even if I do applaud the marketing angle here.

355ml can poured into tulip 19/3/13

A clear bright golden yellow with lots of tiny suspended particles and a good amount of tiny bubbles, large three finger head forms a dome over the top of the glass and retains well leaving some chunks of random lace

S reminds me of Hop Circle with some tropical citrus and a little pine, Phillips House notes, and a little caramel, simple but solid

T just a little toned down with more of Phillips House Yeast? I don't know what that flavor is but I can pick it out in almost every Phillips brew, a little lemon peel I didn't smell

M fairly light but the bubbles cream it up and give it some body, lemon rind on the finish

O pretty solid brew and I like the fact that I can get my hop fix without getting loaded, well at least I need to drink a dozen of them to get there and I could probably do that without getting board

I can see myself picking this up again when it warms up around here, I like drinking in the Sun and I like hops but I don't like getting shitfaced (no red lines? apparently shitfaced is spelled correctly) and this might accommodate my needs

12oz Can received in trade with Rejtable - thanks!

Appearance - Clear gold colour with an average size off white coloured head. There is an average amount of carbonation showing and there is some good lacing. The head lasted for around 3-4 minutes before it was gone.

Smell - Malts, hops, grains, citrus, a mustiness

Taste & Mouth - There is an average amount of carbonation and I can taste malts, caramel, and grassy hops. There is also a bit some light citrus and some breads/grains.

Overall - A very drinkable beer with just enough flavour to keep it light yet interesting. Definitely something I'd buy again if readily available to me. The one draw back is some sort off odd musty type smell going on.. but it's very light.

First of the BC brewers to make a session IPA. Phillips puts its in a funky can and makes it hoppy and light on the mouthfeel. The nose is pure PNW IPA but the colour is lighter and the finish is on the thinner side than the standard IPA. It works as a session beer and come Summer this will be a patio fave. I might prefer the regular IPA most of the time but this is perfect for a lighter brew.

Thanks to biboergosum for this one.

Poured from a 355ml. can, best before Jul 25 (year is smudged but looks like 2013).

Appearance: A slightly hazy, light gold body. Streams of bubbles continuously rise. A healthy white head that lasts quite a while. Good showing of lacing all around.

Smell: Fresh orange, tangerines, good hops tempered by a little malt, some mango.

Taste: Nice resin-like start, good plush fruit, orange slices, sticky sweetness (not too much). There is a vegetal finish that doesn't linger but offsets the flavor a bit.

Mouthfeel: Nice balance here. Hops reined by the malt, bitterness still shines, good carbonation keeps things lively.

Overall: A pretty good IPA that gives a hop fix with no heat.

Certainly looks like a so-called ISA, very light golden yellow brew with ample white foam. Smells like classic Phillips hops and yeast albeit more bright and vibrant as opposed to dank and weedy, although certainly some of the latter character is present. Bright citrus fruit bowl aroma with a few tropical notes. Smooth and creamy with a pleasantly moderate degree of fizz and a thin enough body to drink in quantity, like many blonde ales, but hopped more aggressively of course. Sweet honey malt provides the backbone while fruity, weedy hops lead the way. I get some interesting flavors in this, grapes and cherries along with the more typical sweet iced tea/citrus flavors and pine, although the latter is downplayed compared to other Phillips IPAs. Not terribly astringent but full of rich hop flavor nonetheless, coupled to a nigh-perfect level of malty sweetness to provide balance. Some may wonder at my high ratings but I feel Phillips nailed what they were trying to do here and damn straight I'd session this.
