Bottle from strang. From notes.
A - Poured a hazy copper colour and bright. Good carbonation with a two finger soapy light brown head. Good lace rings and a finger of retention.
S - Dark fruit buttery caramel, toffee, vanilla. Great sweet and complex aroma. Candy-like.
T - Lot's of toffee and caramel, vanilla too. Dark fruit.
M - Good carbonation that was mild and pleasant. Medium body and a sweet then very dry finish.
O/D - Nice scotch ale. Very tasty, sweet, and full of complexity. The barrel is subtle, but there in a complimentary manner. Well done.

A: Copper with a white tan head, foams up nicely, not a lot of retention but it leaves a great lace.
S: Oak, vanilla, booze, caramel, toffee, light fruit.
T: Very woody, alcohol seems much bigger than 6.8%, but in an extremely good way. Nice caramel, cotton candy, toffee, vanilla, field berry and pear. Balanced bitterness, pleasant alcohol warmth.
M: There's a light residual sweetness but it has a nice crisp finish
O: I've been impressed with Phillips barrel-aged brews. They've never shown any obvious signs of oxidation like some other products. I think the barrel REALLY adds to the flavour here. Very nicely done.

Phillip's 'Twisted Oak Scotch Ale' @ 6.8% , from the new Stillage Series brewed specifically to showcase the intricacy and complexity of barrel flavors , served from a 650 ml bottle purchased for $6
A-pour is a clear amber with a medium size off white head leaving a minimal lace ring along the stein
S-malts and barley , hint of booze come from the recently used whiskey barrel
T-taste the barrel aging , a little rough on the swallow
MF-low carbonation , medium/full bodied , has a slight cloying effect on the palate
Ov-ok/good beer , maybe some time in the cellar will smooth this brew out some more ,
it need's it

A - clear mahogany brown, very bubbly, one finger of head quickly fizzled to a thin cover
S - mild grain with some peat, slightly sour aroma, light caramel
T - fairly strong spicy rye-like grainy malt, subtle peat, some caramel sweetness, hints of wood do sneak through
M - medium body with fairly big carbonation, spicy with some alcohol heat through the finish
O - a fairly well built warming scotch ale although could use a little more peat, barrel notes are on the periphery but well integrated, definitely a nice effort at a good price as per usual with Phillips
