A: About one finger of white head builds up on top of a brown-orange body that is slightly hazy. It's darker than the Farmhouse Pumpkin, which I had just a few hours prior, but generally looks the same. The bubbles don't raise up any faster in this one than they did before, either. 3.5

S: The aroma is extremely sweet, as most all of the spices seem to have been left behind in the barrel. It's mostly rum, but there is some pumpkin lingering underneath. I'm worried about how boozy this might taste. 3

T: My fears of booziness were well placed as Rum Pumpkin knocks you over the face with it. The taste starts out with rum, gives you some rum in the middles, blends in a slight amount of pumpkin, and then finishes with booze. The only spices that hang around were probably imparted from the rum barrel, as they seem to have a completely different complexity than was highlighted in the Farmhouse Pumpkin. The sweetness takes the stage here, vice the spices before, which isn't bad. I'm just not sure that this is balanced enough to stand up to its already unbalanced base. 2.5

MF: The taste is light and just as undercarbonated as its base beer. The aftertaste is all rum, so if you like rum then you're good to go. But otherwise, you probably should stay far away. The boozy finish makes it tough to finish the glass that I have. 2

Value: Again, the release of this bottling went off without a hook. At $15 per 750ml bottle, it's a bit pricey. But, with the track record of Hardywood it's always worth it. 4

O: I was disappointed in this one more than the Farmhouse Pumpkin. It's not a bad beer, but it certainly isn't one I plan to buy another of. I think that this spent too much time in the barrels, as the tastes that I enjoyed in the base beer are all gone. 2.5

Thanks to mikehighplains (Reddit) for this interesting gem that I was excited to try. Wish it was the bourbon barrel, but the rum seemed to have it's own place in this beer.

Light fizzy big bubble head that fades pretty quickly, some lacing and legs on the sides, very hazy copper honey tan brown like.

Nose brings nice pumpkin and rum, lots of pumpkin, vegetal pumpkin and gourd like, very light baking spices and stringy pumpkin flesh, but really cinnamon or sugar, hint of it and hint of pie, also some toasty brown malts and very little candy syrupy molasses like. Rum is nice mild but blended nicely, smooth smell.

Taste starts with a quick rum shot, nice smooth molasses based rum and thankfully not spiced. The rum quickly turns to pumpkin, nice fresh pumpkin, stringy flesh and gourd like flavours, with mild baking spices and hint of pumpkin pie. Then pure Molasses comes in, nice fermented molasses little candy sticky almost syrupy, then mild esters but nice farmhouse Belgian phenols, a booze warmth with a big warmth and slight tingle with the nice phenolic flavor. Nice blend and smoothness, and touch creamy. Finish adds a touch of bitterness and baking spices, more molasses and sticky feel, mild sweetness, nice rum, and more booze lingering.

Mouth is nice, med bod with a touch of a creamy feel, little syrupy molasses, a bit light on the carb, big warming booze.

Overall quite nice. Good balance between everything, rum almost seems strange but eventually comes through nicely, good sweet fresh molasses, nice phenols, nice very mild spices. A bit boozy and bit low on carb but not really bad on either.

Rum pumpkin

Smell (4.50) - yeasty and sour with definite rum notes. Very bright. Makes me think I'm about to have a sour. Sour grape smell too.

Appearance (4.50) - hazy gold. Good autumn color. Medium white clean head that fades immediately.

Taste (4.50) - oh mama. Immediately you find a hugely bold farmhouse ale. Big caramels with pumpkin spices. The rum flavor kicks in at just the right time on the finish. Molasses is quite prevalent.

Mouthfeel (4.50) - heavy natural yeast feel in combination with the robustness of the rum. Starts a little flat but then the supercharger kicks in leaving a little rum afterburner.

Overall (4.50) - super impressed. I think this is a great combo of flavors. Awesome choice of rum with pumpkin spices created a bold and robust drink.

Poured from a 750ml cork and caged bottle into a Hardywood tulip.

A: A hazy copper orange color with about 1/2 finger head that dissipates fairly quickly.

S: I get a little bit of the base beer, but this is completely dominated by spiced rum. It goes well with the beer, but I kinda feel like I'm smelling a shot of Capt. Morgan's.

T: I get a bit of nutmeg and pumpkin right up front followed by almost straight spiced rum flavors. Not that it is a bad thing, but the barrel kinda overrides the base beer completely.

M: Feels about medium on the mouth with a higher level of carbonation that would be expected from a Farmhouse style pumpkin.

O: I enjoyed this brew, but I think a large part of that is because I truly enjoy spiced rum. After having Farmhouse Pumpkin, then this, I really think the rum barrel influence is a bit too much. It's not a bad beer by any means, in fact I enjoy it, but it doesn't truly taste much like beer. More like a low ABV, toned down, cheap spiced rum.
