Unfiltered, unpasteurized, and uninhibited, Hardywood Singel is a feat in balance. Sunshine golden with a fluffy head and a veil of Belgian ale yeast, Singel’s tropical fruit esters complement its spicy hop aromatics. Delicate in body, Singel’s mellow, dry finish culminates a truly ethereal experience.
Hardywood Singel's stylistic inspiration originates with the Trappist brewers of western Europe, who are often celebrated for their gloriously complex dubbels and tripels, and whose devotion to crafting heavenly libations is second to none. Unknown to many, some of the Trappist brewers also brew a milder ale for daily consumption within the walls of the monastery. Hardywood Singel is our interpretation of this style.

Draft at Hardywood. Hazy golden pour, thin white foamy head. Big, full bready aroma, sourdough, Belgian yeast. Taste is malty and yeasty, clove, cardamom, handsoap. Creamy feel, slick.

On draft into cold pint glass. Clear straw color with an inch of bright white lofty foam that reduced to a ring with only minor lacing. Moderate aroma of Belgian yeast, ripe banana and general fruity esters, little bit of clove. Taste is same plus a drop of lemon and apple. What minimal citrus bitterness there might be is mostly evident on the aftertaste alongside some residual spice. The light mouthfeel and crisp bite make the medium-light carbonation seem pleasantly stronger than it really is. Overall this is a really well done Belgian blonde with plenty of character.

I wanted it to be better but ultimately was not memorable. Well done for what it's trying to do but no more than that. I'd drink it if everything else available was noxious. Actually it's a little better than that but not substantially so

Hazy gold appearance with a small white head and spotty lacing. Sweet, yeasty aroma with fruit and spices in the background. Flavors of bread, tropical fruit , spices and a low keyed hop presence. Soft bitter aftertaste stays focused on the spiciness. Medium bodied, decently carbonated mouthfeel with a lingering finish.

Bright golden color with a generous, but not overdone, foamy head. I started drinking this beer at about 40 degrees F and the taste was there and gone so quickly, it was disappointing. But upon warming, more toward 50 degrees F, the fruity and lively Belgian yeast qualities came through. Singels are made to be mild, and this one was. Nice on a summer day, I'll bet.

L - Golden with a medium off-white head that sticks around and leaves some lacing behind
S - light fruits - some banana and apples along with Belgian yeast - overall not too strong though
T - A solid amount of light fruits - apples, pears, bananas, along with fruity esters and spice followed and finished by that characteristic Belgian, bready, yeast.
F - Medium bodied with a moderate to high amount of carbonation - crisp
O - a pretty decent blonde ale, but nothing that really stands out in my opinion

From tasting notes 11/05/18
Had on-tap at Byers Street Bistro in Staunton, VA
Appearance - Served up in a standard pint, light haze and golden yellow in,color with mostly barren surface and razor thin ring of suds. No lacing.
Smell - Light fruity and funky aroma. Hints of apple, citrus and spice.
Taste - Follows the nose. Hints of lemon upfront before some apple-ish esters and a touch of spice and funk. Finishes much the same way lingering with lemon and lesser funk aftertaste.
Mouthfeel - Light in body with tingly carbonation. Slick, easy drinker with a Crisp, refreshing finish.
Overall - Crisp, clean drinker with interesting notes of lemon and funk. Not the most flavor Belgian pale, but it's make for a good BBQ beer or early afternoon option.

Nice head, which fades quickly with little lacing. A little cloudy, but a long slow bubble from the bottom that is pleasant. There's a strong citrus aftertaste.
