Notes & Commercial Description:
Beer added by: TechTriumph on 09-10-2012

A Belgian wheat beer brewed with a touch of rye and a massive addition (over 1,000 lbs. per 40-barrel batch) of plump, ripe blackberries grown by Agriberry in Hanover County, Hardywood Virginia Blackberry offers an assertive fruit character while remaining extremely refreshing. Ruby hued with the bright aroma of fresh bramble berries, this beer’s pleasantly gentle body leads to a rather dry, rounded fruit finish, making it irresistible on a hot summer day.

A wonderful balance of sweetness from the blackberries an pleasant yeast notes of a lighter Belgian. Quite sessionable and enjoyable.

A: This poured an opaque gold with moderate white head.
S: It smelled like grassy hops and salty Belgian yeast, with some tart berry.
T: It tasted like sweet cream and bready yeast, with some grassy hops and tart blackberry. It had a clean sweet and tart aftertaste.
M: It was fairly thick with smooth natural carbonation. Beautiful body.
D: This was a very refined brew with delicate and enjoyable scent and taste. The body was outstanding, and the finish was really smooth, so it was easy to drink. Probably not for aging. Great drink.

Shared at a tasting at Treehouse Brewery. Maybe I was just a little drunk but I enjoyed this beer. Reviewed from note.

A - POP! Cork rockets into my hand. Poured a nice berry juice grapefruit like hue with a quarter inch thin head that fades rather quickly to leave light thin wisps.

S - Big, bright blackberry juice along with light wheat notes. Very light bread notes along with faint phenols.

T - Similar to the nose with black berry juice along with faint wit notes. Light tartness along with a slight dry finish.

M - Mouthfeel is on the thin side with lighter carbonation.

O - Overall this wasn't nearly as good as the other Blackberry Wit I've had (Mother Earth's Window Pane Blackberry). Not the best Hardywood, but not the worst.
