Pours a very deep brown with a decent size head. Smells of milk chocolate and French vanilla coffee. Taste opens up with a berry and dry coffee flavors and fades to a nice warming bourbon aftertaste with a slight hint of alcohol. Mouthfeel is slightly on the thin side but it doesn't take away from beer at all and the carbonation is on the softer side. Overall this is an amazing beer and I am very glad to have had the chance to try this. Thanks for the trade Joe.

A - Dark chocolate brown with really thin looking body. Medium, milky head comprised of many small bubbles

S - Smells like coffee bender with light coffee, cream, chocolate and light brown ale malt

T - Light coffee and chocolate. Really bitter near the finish from coffee and light oak

M - Really thin body for the style with a slightly astringent finish from the coffee

O - On the downside of the coffee stouts I've had as it tastes like weak coffee mixed with more of a brown ale than a stout. I'd pass on having this one again.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Black body. Small khaki head. Medium collar.

Smell - Milk chocolate. Coffee. A little bit of bourbon. Vanilla.

Taste - Bourbon up front. A little coffee. Milk chocolate throughout. A little nutty in the back.

Mouthfeel - Medium low carbonation. A little creamy.

Overall - Strange that it tastes nothing like the base beer. Weird.

S: Rich breadiness, medium oak, some vanilla. Slight chocolate. More coffee as it warms.

L: Brown-black with a light tan head that dissipates.

T: Medium high bourbon barrel presense right off the bat with medium light coffee-like malt. Low bitterness with a thin bourbon character mixing with a pleasant coffee roastiness in the taste. Finishes semi-sweet with additional coffee roastiness.

M: Medium low bodied, medium low carbonation. Alcohol very well hidden.

I think a lot of people were expecting this to be similar to BCBCS. Its not. The body is definitely on the thin side, but the flavors are pretty solid. Definitely serve this a little warmer to allow the body come up as well as the coffee.
