Dark brown in color with a clear body, Mother in Lager offers up a tan- colored head of foam and a nose of bread, dark pale mallet, a touch of chocolate, and a dab of butter. The foam holds its own and leaves some lacing as you drink.
This lager has a flavor profile that emphasizes toasted barley, some chocolate, and some roasted malt and butter. The body of the beer is creamy and the profile is very smooth. The hops in the finish are mild, as the taste returns back to that of chocolate and toasted malt.
Mother in Lager is a smooth as silk brew with an easy drinking profile. It is labeled as a dunkel, but it doesn’t necessarily taste like the typical dark German beer. It is more like a hybrid of styles and the blend is eminently enjoyable.
Another good beer from Karbach and certainly a beer worth trying!

Pretty decent sized light brown to tan colored head slowly settles leaving a bit of lacing clinging to the edges as it recedes above a deep reddish amber colored beer.
Well roasted caramel malt aroma bordering on warmed dark chocolates.
Smooth dark roasted malts taste with a light Hershey's dark milk chocolate edge to it.
Dryish aftertaste with a bit of the dark malts tastes hanging around with this smooth and creamy medium bodied drink.
Smooth and tasty, pretty pleased with buying this stuff, just wish I had bought more.

12 oz can pours a dark brown color with a creamy tan head. Ok retention and great swiss-cheese lace. Pretty good looking brew
Nose is roasty with an astringent malt backdrop. Not the typical smooth choco/toasty malt I am used to in a Dunkel.
Hmmmm, mild chocolate and bigger roast. The malts just dont really smooth out the way a good Dunkel does. Pretty much a letdown for Karbach after many a good canned seasonal....and this coming from a huge Dunkel fan. Mouthfeel is actually a high point despite the roast. Carbonation is fine-bubbled. Its not horrible, but with some of the recent successes from Karbach and my love for the Dunkel style, I was hoping for something special.
