Long road trip to Texas. Upon arriving at a friend's place, a sixer of this beer awaiting me and my wife. Very thoughtful.

The beer is hazy and pale yellow. An inch of head rapidly fades to but a thin wispy layer. The aroma and flavor are both a bit off. Overly sweetened, with abundant pilsner malt and/or cereal grain character. Metallic and harsh on the palate. One was more than enough. Not again.

cloudy orange pour with a finger of head which quickly dissipated. smells of bready pilsner malts, citrusy orange, coriander - pretty standard witbier. this reminds me pretty much of hoeegarden.. the flavor is bready, slightly sweet, with mostly the orangey citrus flavor.. and a slight hint of coriander. light/medium body with high carbonation.

this is probably the most unimpressive beer i've had from karbach. it IS refreshing at least, so that's a plus for this hot weather.

Another CAN courtesy of the wondrous JenRay! As my students CAN tell you, I am a big believer in puns and wordplay so this one is right up my alley.

From the CAN: "(Proudly) Brewed in Texas"; "Ale Brewed with Spices"; "Both. At the same time."; "Wheat'ish. Sometimes, the obvious is ingenious. It might also settle the argument. The fantastic flavors found in a Bavarian Hefeweizen? Or the intriguing spices that a Belgian white embodies? Which is better? Turns out, both. At the same time."

I was able to make an inverted Crack & Glug happen and not only did I get two fingers of yellowish-white head that popped and dropped quickly out of existence, but the kitchen smelled like I was baking banana bread. Color was a very cloudy orangish-yellow. Nose smelled like black pepper had been sprinkled on a banana! I am not going to attempt this in real life any time soon. Talk about two great tastes that may or may not taste great together ... Mouthfeel was medium and my initial taste was of bananas which drives me bananas, but then the spices kicked in and I was enjoying it a bit more. Finish was semi-dry, mostly due to the inclusion of the spices. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings or step on anyone's toes, but asking me to like banana ester-driven Hefeweizen is like asking and expecting Archie Bunker to be more tolerant. I won't be taking up valuable cooler space with this beer.

Pours a hazy orange amber color, pure white bubbly head less than an inch thick, fades reasonably quickly. Not much of a head for a wheat beer but it's pretty regardless.

Nose is yeasty banana, malty vanilla/caramel (almost white chocolate), maybe some strawberry or other fruit, spices.

Taste opens with fruit, strawberry or grapes or something, moves into that malty flavor again, some spice but not too much, something kindof tangy or metallic maybe but it's not as much of an off flavor as that sounds like. Less banana flavor than in the nose, more berry fruit.

Mouthfeel is fairly well carbed, body a little thick for a wheat beer, drinkability pretty good.

Solid beer overall, actually not that much like a normal hefeweizen *or* wit, though definitely more like the former.

6.5/10

A: Hazy amber pour. Big fluffy tan head that fizzes away very quickly. Soap bubble-like head. Zero lacing. Looks still afterwards.

S: Really sweet grains. Almost like corn syrup somehow. A bit of orange and banana?

T: Sweet orange and some...coriander? Wheat shows up in the finish but there is a sickly syrupy sweet layer of orange over everything. Mildly dry finish oddly enough, despite the sweetness.

M: Medium bodied and smooth.

O: Hmph. Wasn't feeling this one. It's a really sweet and orangy witbier-esque brew, it actually reminds me heavily of shock top. That's not a good thing. Not terrible but not great either. Makes me wonder if it isn't old - but there's no date so who knows.

More of a regular American wheat beer than a hefe, although not a bad one at that. Foamy pour, light body, floral spicy aroma. Suitably carbonated. Decent drinkability, a tad fruity and significantly spicy. Medium mouthfeel at best, a tad watery. Thanks SliverX.
