Clear dark orange body and a off white head.

Orange, grapefruit, floral hop aroma.

Nice hit of bitterness giving way to the hop flavors and ending with bready malt.

From BeerAdvocate Magazine #73 (Feb 2013):

At ~70 IBU and brewed with a combination of American, English and German hops (German Magnum, Chinook, Amarillo, Citra, Simcoe, East Kent Goldings), this is a very different IPA. Don’t expect this to be a typical American IPA, as the range of hop flavours runs the gamut, which might be too much for some. Nonetheless, this is an interesting hop bomb of complex flavors.

A weak IPA or a strong PA. Much more bitter and less friendly than, say, Sierra Nevada Pale, but nowhere near a dogfish 90. I would rate it higher, but the hop notes are very floral and the finish isn't clean.

Sent to me by my son in Texas, it was brewed on 10/09/14 and consumed on 12/05/14. It's dry hopped, and called a 'Texas IPA' on the can. Poured nicely with a relatively small head that did last, with plenty of lacing. Had a pine forest aroma, very pleasant. First sip yielded some fresh grapefruit flavor that was lively and embracing, followed by the pine resin hoppy taste. There was some mild bitterness as I swallowed, followed by a clean finish. If this is what Texas IPAs are about, give me more!

Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass. Canned Oct 20th 2014.

Thick and fluffy very large controlled head, off tan in appearance, huge staying power and retention, with a smooth cap. Foamy ring lacing while settling very slowly. Gorgeous crystal bronze and garnet red body color, with ample rising carbonation coming from the bottom. Great looking IPA.

Mild subtle hop notes of dank earth. More notes of caramel and some sweet herbs come forth a bit though taking over just a bit. Some juiced orange like character squeaks out just a bit wanting to poke it's aroma through. Very subtle but quite nice in a way.

Palate comes quite nicely with a subtle kick. Mild juiced body with lots of good tangerine soft sweetness. Malt action takes a bit of backseat with still some toffee light notes but lets the hops do the talking. Juiced orange body, with a resin soft chewy feel, then gives way to leafy herbal tea quality. Comes off almost like wet hop brewed interestingly, with a big airy aftertaste. Mild pine to mint finish with a breathmint quality.

Overall really nice with some subtle complex character and good balance.
