22 oz bomber of the 2012 vintage pours a mostly opaque dark brown but there are a few edges of crimson in there. Tan head settles neat and tidy with good retention and decent lace.
Nose is sweet malt, molasses and only a hint of smoke. Smoke was never a huge component of this beer, but I feel it has dissipated with a few years age. It seems more richly sweet and the chocolate more forthcoming.
Mmmm, taste is s'mores goodness...not so much graham crackers, but the campfire smoke, marshmallows and chocolate are all there. This is what I was hoping for with this beer as it aged. It seemed a little unbalanced and thinner when fresh, but the mouthfeel is now rich and the sweetness is balanced with the smoke and char character now. Very good, wish I had put away a few more.
