A light, but hoppy ipa. Very drinkable if you are into an ipa
Light carbonation

Pours a very slightly hazy (could be the glass) light amber with a nice frothy head. I found it quite drinkable and enjoyable.

This beer was actually much better than I expected considering the mediocre reviews. Nothing special, but a very solid IPA.

I love this IPA. It's a go to for me. Super dry finish, lots of head on a pour. It's better on draft, but seems stronger in a can. It won't be the best IPA you've had, but you'll find yourself trying to figure out why it isn't after a couple of them.

The draft had an inviting opaque apricot color with a thin off white head. The aroma invites the taster with the apricot nose complemented by a faint grapefruit essence and light breadiness. The initial taste confirms my apricot assertion but the citrus flavors do not join the party. Mouthfeel is singularly unidimensional lacking hops declaration of its presence. The hops do present themselves rather meekly upon the finish, but it's a desperate attempt at redemption. Overall it's a pleasant and drinkable brew, but not one worth seeking.

Nice ipa, not an intense hoppy ipa but has a nice golden color and feels good going down. Bitterness is not too intense. Overall I would say it might be a good beer for introducing a friend to ipas.

Well balanced, easy drinker. No curve balls here, just a fine drinking IPA.

Pretty solid IPA. Good balance of hop bitter and malt but the latter is too pronounced for me. This is a good representation of the basic american ipa and a great option if seeking out a georgia-brewed ipa in particular. Nothing much to distinguish this from any other not-bad ipa out there though.

a sturdy ipa here, less hoppy than i hoped for, mostly bitterness here, but a very drinkable take on the style, if a little (or a lottle) generic. it looks alright, with a foaming white head that settles at average speed. aroma is west coasty, some oils in here, but it ends up more bitter than fruity or piney for sure. malt is robust, some caramel to color and sweeten, something english, some maris maybe, its well balanced. not overbalanced in a bad way, but well aligned in a good way. hops last in the finish longer than the moderate grain sweetness, but the bitterness stays. carbonation is nice and lively and it saves the beer from becoming heavy. better than its ratings, but not way better.

Pours slightly less than clear and is lightly amber hued amber gold with a slightly off white head that has good retention and great side glass lacing.
Aroma:: Sharp piney hops but malts are their as well.
Taste: Citrus with grapefruit Piney hops with some maltiness that provides a little bit of balance to the stronger hop presence. For me, the hops were a little too pungent.
Finishes dry and on the bitter side.
Personally liked this IPA it was well above average.

12oz can received from coworker Eric. Thanks for the brew!

Pours into an imperial pint glass, forming a thick 1/2" off-white head over the cloudy golden amber brew. Pillowy head lasts well, with thick, slow-falling lace. Aroma is wow citrus.

Taste is sweet to start, ample citrus in the middle, balanced through the close, going bitter at the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is smooth, and drinkability is easy. A touch chalky after a bit, but overall a good brew.

This beer was a go-to up until about a month ago. The composition has changed, the packaging has changed and -- disappointingly -- the ABV has changed from 7% to 6.2%.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a Three Notch'd tulip . Canned on 04/08/14 on bottom of can. Received from good friend Erinn during his recent trip to VA -- glad to have the chance to try.

A: Crystal clear light orange amber with nice 1-2 finger off-white, light beige frothy head with good retention and a nice collar of lacing.

S: Resiny most of all with some light-to-medium crystal maltiness, a little crackery but also a little sweet caramel. The pine and grapefruit citrus are most prominent but not blasting the doors off with strength or anything. No yeast or alcohol character.

T: Good flavor, a solid American IPA, equal parts West and East Coast with some bright floral, grapefruit, and pine coupled with resiny and slightly dank hops notes as well. The crystal maltiness is still light caramel and slightly but not overly sweet and plays off of a crackery, somewhat bready base. The bitterness is moderate. No yeast character and alcohol is well-hidden.

M: Solid slick mouthfeel with medium body and a dry finish. Carbonation is medium as well. No astringency -- just a solid American IPA feel.

O: Gangway IPA is a really nice, solid, drinkable American IPA which fits right in the middle of the style. No flaws other than it isn't from a big name even though it tastes like it would fit nicely in the lineup of any high-quality brewery. Just not a lot new with it -- but it is quite a good example for the style.

Refreshing, light taste. Cereal-y malty taste. Not the ipa flavor I'm used to here in the south. Light finish and after taste. Overall a decent beer, refreshing, very drinkable beer. (Tasted after being slightly intoxicated)

Not my favorite beer, but if I was given this at a BBQ I wouldn't complain.

Tasted On: 04-14-2014
Freshness: Canned 02-18-2014
Packaging: 12 oz. can
Glassware: Shaker pint
Purchased: 6-pack from Craft Brewed

Beer is hazy and honey-colored, with a creamy, off-white head. The head offers a fair amount of lacing and excellent retention.

Aromas offer a very inviting mix of floral and citrusy hops. Makes me thirsty smelling it!

The taste is mainly of hops and bitter resins, as you'd expect, with a touch of malt breadiness.

Mouthfeel has a medium amount of body and moderated carbonation. The finish is dry and bitter and thirst-quenching.

Very solid IPA from new brewer Red Hare. Glad I have 6 of these!

Got one can of Gangway IPA as part of my first out of state trade.
Poured in a pint glass.
Nice fluffy head. Light color toward yellow. Not really cloudy but opaque.
Aroma a bit sweet.
Taste was a steady progression beginning with graoefruit, pine, then grassy, ending up with a little caramel.
Well carbonated, flowed delightfully over my tongue.

Overall a very nice IPA. Not as intense as an imperial or even a classic double. Just tasty. I could drink this regularly if it gets distributed in Texas.

On tap at the brewery.

Weedy, grassy, herbal, grapefruit peel aroma: hop-dominant as expected.

Flavor: Hops present a more balanced taste with a touch more fruit. Mild bitterness turns a bit higher in the aftertaste.

Hazy amber body with a durable off-white head.

From the 12 fl. oz. can marked Canned 11/08/13. A gift from a friend that I sampled on February 3, 2014.

Golden yellow pour building up to a foamy, pilsener-like, soapy white head. Some lacing.

Pleasant earthy, pine, and and green apple notes on the nose. Malts come up behind in a mellower fashion. Relaxing nose.

The body is a little acidic but generally on the medium side.

The taste has a notable hop character that clings to the back of my throat and lingers bitterly for a few seconds after each swallow. Tastes clean as well as biting.

Clear pale yellow in color with almost zero head and the thinnest of collars. Aroma is lacking. Barely any malt at all, zero hop character. Taste is kind of like some kind of industrial cleaner. Thin in body and medium carbonation. I wish this brewery was better considering it's only about 10 minutes away from my parents' new house in Marietta.

"Good ale was difficult to come by for British troops living in colonial India in the early 18th century. Shipping the British malt ale overseas left it spoiled due to the long trip. The answer was India Pale Ale, or IPA. This brew could withstand the long journey to India in British ships due to the generous amount of hops that gives the IPA its lively taste." Brewed in the style of an American IPA. One of Red Hare's 2 launch beers alongside Long Day Lager. Available year round in 6 pack cans and within the Splitting Hares variety pack.

Poured from a 12 oz. can to a pint glass. Served north of 50º Fahrenheit.

(Appearance) Pours a medium-thick creamy head over a moderately hazy golden amber body. Retention is good and lacing is medium and patchy. 4.25

(Smell) Clean biscuit and cracker malts up front generate a moderate sweetness and a light body. Mild fruity hops and juicy grapefruit with a mild bitterness. Potency is medium+. 3.75

(Taste) Much further balanced in the flavor, with a bolder malt presence, moderate bready malts with a medium slickness and an enhanced sweetness. Hop profile is mild in flavor, medium in bitterness with a floral, grassy hop profile, faded grapefruit. 3.5

(Mouthfeel) Smooth, sweet with a mild slickness. Carbonation adds a touch of creaminess and froth, keeps the texture very smooth. Body is medium+ for the style, medium overall. Alcohol presence is mild. I enjoy the mild texture of this beer. 4

(Overall) A very mild-mannered American IPA with a very enjoyable texture that doesn't distract. The hop presence may be a bit too mundane in flavor for some, but there's no doubting this as a well-made, highly quaffable and sessionable IPA. 3.75

12 ounce can -> Highlands Brewing Company snifter

A - standard nice appearance. Medium gold pour, one finger head, not much retention, lots of lacing, yadda, yadda, yadda.

S - Oh my GOSH!!! This is a big time grapefruit bomb on the nose. There are some other notes - lemon - I think - but grapefruit is the dominant theme here. There are some spicy notes present as well.

T - very well balanced. Caramel malts in perfect sync with a nice bitter finish and grapefruit galore. If you dig you some grapefruit, get this one.

M - very average, neither thick nor thin, adequate carbonation

O - This is my favorite so far of the Red hare offerings I have been able to acquire. Worth a try for any IPA fan. It isn't Stone IPA, or even Dogfish Head 60 minute, but it is pretty good.

Poured from the can into a pint glass. Canned on 07/09/13.

Look: Pours a hazy gold with a two finger head, which has gone down, but slowly, leaving a nice amount of lacing.

Smell: Ahh! Grapefruit. My nemesis. But there is also a bit of lemon as well. There is also a nice level of hoppy goodness, which is translating here as floral and woody.

Taste: There is quite a bit of a grapefruit note, which isn't to my taste, but it's not terrible. And I won't judge it on such. (much) It pretty much follows the nose to the tee, sans lemon. Not bad really, considering my dislike for grapefruit. I'd probably pick it up again if it were in my area.

Feel Light-medium texture with mild carbonation. Pretty well balanced with the malt as well.

Overall: I had no idea what to expect when my buddy picked this up and brought it back from GA. I really liked it and am a bit surprised to have not heard more about it. If we could get some distribution to Orlando, I would support them and try out the other brews they've got.
