330 ml dark brown glass bottle, 7,4% abv. Water, malt, yeast, hops and sugar.
Opens with some smoke. Pours with a violant 4 finger white-creamy head in a bulb glass. Great retention. At 6-7 grades celcius.
Irish Coffee appearance. Intransparant hazey beige-brown, Not the most pleasant colour. But does looks matter in beer?
Smell, roasted bread, sweet cream and coffee.
Mouthfeel, full, tingles on the tongue, hardly any tanginess, not much sweetness ass well, but a lovely dry choclate bitterness at the end. This beer stays nice. Which is a rare quality with doubles/belgian browns.
I am not a fan of doubles, but i will order and drink this again. And certainly will stew meat like rabbit or hare legs in it when I have the chance. Lovely beer to drink, and maybe even a perfect beer to cook with.
I cannot relate to many comments below. There is nothing redish, light nor fruity about this beer . I am afraid people below here rated a different beer from De Halve Maan. But which one? I am curious.

Taste is lighter than expected. Definite initial taste of toffee and plum, but doesn't linger too long. ABV of 7.5 is well masked. More carbonation than expected and that's no bad thing. Had the blonde before from this brewery and was impressed. Pretty happy with this dubbel too.

Poured from draft at a restaurant in Bruges. Pours dark brown with light head. The nose was fairly subtle. Toffee, malts, raisins. The taste was also fairly subtle. Follows the nose. Toffee, malts, wheat, raisins, plums, and bread. Mouthfeel was fairly light. Overall, a pretty good dubbel.

Feel is medium and smooth with carbonation.
Overall, a really nice dubbel.

Pours medium cloudy brown with a huge tan head. Candi sugar, dark fruits, toffee, and light chocolate make up the nose anchored by belgian yeast. Taste focuses on the fig, plum, and date in particular with the candi sugar, estery yeast and a kiss of booze cut the sweetness a little. Feel is light and more so thinner, but smooth and has a somewhat airy crispness in the finish.
