Overall, a very drinkable "light" triple. Great for a warm day when you still want something robust but without too much sweetness. Has the characteristics of a good triple but a bit more suitable for big gulps. A kinder, gentler triple that would be a great dinner beer.

A nice hazy orange, with negligible head. Looks flat at a glance. Not much for the nose but a nice, light, slightly sweet, triple taste. The alcohol nips rather than bites. Does have a gentle fizz in the mouth and goes down very smooth.

Poured an orangish golden body with one finger head that left minor lace on top of a yeasty, citrusy (orange) aroma, complete with some sharp spice and a hint of candi sugar and breadlike malt. First impressions on my tongue are that this beer has both a grainy, cracker/bready malt base and a sharp carbonation and touch of pepper to it which leads to a somewhat chewey, medium-bodied beer that finishes with a snap. Touches of sugary sweetness give minor counterpoint, not exactly balance, tropical (pineapple or pear, something along those lines) and citric (orange) fruit notes. Good balance, nice flavors, not my favorite but it's not watery or rip or anything negative.

(Served in a chalice)
A- This beer pours a deep orange body that is slightly hazy with a swirling microsea of big bubbles. A light eggshell colored head breaks up soon.

S- The dry cidery hit leads to a dry candy ester hint in the finish. Otherwise the aroma is pretty clean.

T- The dry candy note leads to a soft dry pine bite of hops with some alcohol heat in the finish. There is a slight sweetness in the finish as it opens up and some cidery notes grow in the finish.

M- The big scrubbing fizz leads to an alcohol warmth in the finish.

O- This is a bit sugary but not much of the classic Tripel yeast profile that is hard to capture but delicious. There alcohol and fizz with some sweetness makes it ok to drink but nothing special.

Straffe Hendrik makes a good product. I fell in love with their style of beer making when I toured their brewery in Brugge, Belgium. They have an intimate knowledge of hops and how to use them to their fullest advantage.

This triple is an amber color and smells fruity. The generous head leaves a lovely lacing on the glass and has a nice mellow taste.

The beer itself has a beautiful toasted malted hop flavor that's not too intense but varied and interesting, a velvety cream mouth feel and has a second life in its aftertaste.

This is a very enjoyable beer to drink slowly and savor with a nice pastry, fries or maybe mussels.

Served on-draught into beerfest stemware (Antwerp Beer Passion Weekend 2011). Reviewed from notes taken in summer 2011.

A: Pours a two finger head of lovely cream nice thickness, and good retention. Body colour is a clear gold. Appealing.

Sm: Slight cream accompanied by bland floral hopping. A light strength aroma.

T: Caramelized malt, malts evoking nuts on the fringe, floral hop character, and a full bodied barley foundation. Fairly complex, but not special. Well balanced and decently built.

Mf: Smooth and wet, suiting the flavour profile decently. Adequate carbonation.

Dr: A higher ABV beer that drinks pretty easily. Decent quality. I wouldn't pay over 2 euro for it again.
