A shiny, modern brewery with a nice view of the water from the bar and restaurant. I arrived just as food service was ending but I'll make time for based on what I saw on the menu and on the tables of the other guests. Their beer selection is limited but exceptional. Service was slow.

Took a tour, raided the beer shop for some special items that still sit on the shelf and had a couple of beers in the beer hall/restaurant. It's rustic and one must like singing Belgium stag parties, so thumbs up for the vibe. Service at the bar only but extremely beer knowledgable and patient with questions. When I'm back in Brugge, I'll go there again.

We took the XL tour, which was in English, and runs once a day. It affords a smaller group and a broader sampling of their beers at the end of the tour in their basement tasting room, not the main bar and restaurant upstairs. Fairly standard brewery tour, with some active brewing going on and a lot more old memorabilia and brewing equipment to see. Their main (newer) brewery is now elsewhere in the city, but remains connected by the world's longest beer pipeline. Plenty of articles out there, no need to rehash here.

There's some narrow and steep steps to navigate on the tour route, but nothing too hairy. Our tour guide was knowledgeable as well as good humored. One surprise was the rooftop deck which has a great 360 degree view of Bruges. Somewhat tongue-in-cheek, it might be better than waiting in line to climb up the Belfry. Here you get the view, shorter line, and beer!

The tour finishes on the lower level in a tasting room which overlooks the canal. Served by your tour guide, who also joins you to discuss the 4 beers provided (not at once, but sequentially), you receive standard sized servings of Brugse Zot Blond and Dubbel, and Straffe Hendrick Tripel and Quad. Our only add would be to include a small food serving, maybe cheese and crackers, with the beer tasting. Otherwise, the small group size and the communal setting at the tasting made the tour well worth it.

Went for a few beers in the sun in late May, sat outside in the patio and it was a nice place; strange that it closes at 6pm rather than stay open a little later but I guess it's probably quieter when it's not so warm. Had their main beer and their dubbel when I was here, both were good and I'd have them again. The had a couple more of their own beers available too as well as food but I never tried any. Great place and somewhere I'd visit again if back in Bruges.

Incredible; nice fireplace with comfortable couches, swans floating in the canal outside the window. No time for food; just beer. Service was responsive and friendly. This is a must-visit in Brugge.

De Halve Maan is Bruges' main brewery, located just outside the city centre.

The place is pretty big, with a large indoor dining area, a fairly large patio and a shop. Vibe is laid back, but there are a lot of tourists making their way through the brewery, so it gets a bit hectic at tmes.

Seletion is limited to the house beers, with the regular four beers, and seasonal selections. Quality is very high, though, since you're at the brewery itself. Didn't eat, but the food looked and smelled good!

Overall, a nice, albeit touristy place with some quality beer.

Our visit here was to take the VIP tour of the brewery, so this review focuses on our experience for that and not the pub itself. The pub looked inviting, and there was plenty of people enjoying their beers there as well as at the outdoor tables in the courtyard on this nice day.

We had paid extra to get the VIP tour here, and it was well worth it. They offer an English tour guide by scheduling ahead of time which is what we did. The tour was very informative and the guide was entertaining, but seeing the inside of this old building and the old equipment that is still used to make beer is amazing. No beer is offered during the tour for good reason – the 'steps' during parts of the tour were essentially steep ladders, and the tour included a walk across part of the building's roof (with railings for safety). The tasting room at the end of the tour is in a party room that is not part of the pub, and the beer samples were excellent. We would have liked to stay and enjoy the pub a bit more and have a meal, but with only one day on our trip to spend in Brugge, we had to move on. This ended up being our most favorite place during our 17-day trip. One last note: the baseball hats are very reasonably priced at 9.5 euro in the gift shop.

Very relaxed venue, ideal stop for your first beverage on route from Bruges Station to the Grotemarket, I call in every time. Big open beer keller feel, but toasty warm. Only serving the beers they produce on site. Do the brewery tour if you have an hour.

Hard place to review!

Brewery tour was outstanding. The gift shop was nice. Food was good, beer was very good, service was excellent. Just too formal for me.

What a disgrace. Walked a mile from my house to get lunch here when they opened. Sat at a table and waited 30 minutes, flagging down service, with absolutely no response. Fortunately I packed a sandwich for my daughter, so she sat with me and ate that while I sat there in vain without even a nod in my direction. So to hell with this place, the staff, and the beer which I didn't get to taste, but which I assume is just as terrible. Avoid this dump like the plague. A disgrace to Belgian breweries.
