On tap at the Basin Pub in Bushnell's Basin, New York.

Pours a dark crimson brown, with a small film like head, and not much lacing.

Smells more barleywine-ish or strong-ale-ish, honestly. Toffee, caramel, dark fruit, and booze.

The taste is similar, not getting much quad, other than a slight hint of yeasty esters. More barleywine-type flavors of warming booze, caramel, toffee, dark fruits, candied fruits, some lemon. Fairly sweet.

Medium to thick bodied, sticky sweet mouthfeel. Despite all of that, this goes down fairly easily. Low carbonation.

This doesn't much like a quad to me, more like a barleywine, but it still tasted quite nice despite the style confusion.

Pours darker than a normal Belgian. Lots of bubbly. Smell leans on the sweet side. Sweet and boozy taste. Pretty good beer. Unfortunately most Belgians I have had are out of this world. Still a good solid beer. Just a bit too sweet for me.

Appearance - Served on tap in a mini-snifter, the quad was pretty black with bubbles clinging to the sides of the glass.

Smell - The lightly sweet malts and yeast come through in the aroma in a modest way. The aroma forecasts a dry leaning quad.

Taste - Sour dark fruits come through. Butterscotch and maybe tobacco makes an appearance. Chocolate comes through right at the end. The alcohol is hot on this one, but it would be hard to age since it is on tap. This definitely lacks the sweetness I like in a quad.

Mouthfeel - The bite of alcohol made me want this one to go down quickly. Unfortunately, the beer was very clingy.

Overall - I would suggest this to be a solid quad that lacks in some areas. Still it is worth checking out.
