16 oz can (from Colorado?)
Dark clear mahogany body with an impressive tan head.
Excellent aroma and flavor with particularly well hidden alcohol.
Overall: Highly recommended.

From notes on 6/14/15
Bought a can of this while visiting the Oskar Blues brewery. This is most definetaly an American barleywine. Very hoppy. Almost seems like a sweet double IPA. Hazy tan body. Flowery, but malty aroma.

Very boozy aroma, with dark fruit notes and some muted citrus hops. Almost phenolic, cough syrup notes surface.
There's a touch of maple sweetness and cocoa in flavour, but the muted citrus really dominates. The finish is woody and earthy. Becomes sweettart-like, with tart cherry mixing in. Seems a bit harsh in the aftertaste. Kind of grows on me.

The palate shift that America is experiencing in beer flavor, trending drier, hopper and intensely flavored; has landed the collaborative efforts of Oskar Blues and Brewdog brewers squarely on the line that separate barleywine from imperial "black" IPA.
Shipwreck Circus pours an ominous toasty dark crimson with dense dark brown saturation through the center. Its blanketed froth thwarts a bouquet of citrus, pineapple, pinecone and freshly muddled herb and grass. Yet its initial taste is of toffee, lightly burnt toast, roasted pecan and hints of cocoa powder.
With the flavor spread unfolding across the middle palate, the malt-forward taste is met with an offset from grapefruit, orange, pineapple, and botanical tea leaf and the earthiness of heavy bread crust, toast and browned coffee bean. Its slight roasty, toasty taste provides a slight acidity to link with piney hop bitterness to easily contend with the hearty residual sweetness.
The balanced taste remains intact in finish despite the medium-fullness of the beer trying to close the session as sweetly as it started. The immense hop additions and slight acrid roast gives the finish a malty-dry finish with lingering citrus rib and spruce tips, both seemingly dipped in toffee.
