Poured from a 12oz can into a pint glass.
A: Pours a murky brown with dark garnet colored huts. A creamy, off white head sits on top at a little more than one finger in thickness. The head sticks around for a long time and cobwebs of lacing is left behind. Very light bubble streams rise to the top, giving it a not-quite-still appearance.
S: Toasted malts with some hints of sweet caramel. This is just about all I'm picking up with this one.
T: The taste is much more pronounced than the aroma (which is a good thing). Much more of the sweet caramel malts come through along with a light roasted malt characteristic.
M: This has a really creamy mouthfeel. It is medium to heavy bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. A very light bitterness comes through in the finish.
O: This scotch ale is quite good and a fine example of the style. The nose could have been better, but this was quite enjoyable overall.

I wanted to like this beer, but my initial reactions were not positive at all. I gave it a 2.50 rating within the first two minutes. Obviously I deleted that rating. I'm somewhat new to the craft beer scene, and I found the taste syrupy and bitter and kinda gross. But as I approached the bottom, I started to warm up to it and the beer seemed to settled down. I don't think it was simply the alcohol taking effect and me growing acclimated to the new taste, though I'm sure that played a part. But the beer seem to change consistency midway through. I found it quite good at the end. I definitely want to try again
