Poured into a balloon glass.
The beer is a dark, dark mahogany that has a beautiful ruby tint to it. A cream colored head recedes to a wisp while foamy lines if lacing make random artwork on the glass.
The aroma is barely graced with any boozy presence while rich syrupy notes of vanilla and bourbon barrel wood come through.
The taste starts out malty and sweet with rich vanilla bean, dark roasted malts, and and hint of hop bitterness. The finish gets a little bit spicier from the alcohol content, with woody notes coming in as well.
The mouthfeel is medium to heavy, and very smooth.
Overall, a decadent sipper from start to finish.

I wanted to like this beer, but my initial reactions were not positive at all. I gave it a 2.50 rating within the first two minutes. Obviously I deleted that rating. I'm somewhat new to the craft beer scene, and I found the taste syrupy and bitter and kinda gross. But as I approached the bottom, I started to warm up to it and the beer seemed to settled down. I don't think it was simply the alcohol taking effect and me growing acclimated to the new taste, though I'm sure that played a part. But the beer seem to change consistency midway through. I found it quite good at the end. I definitely want to try again
