Can into pint glass:
Color/Appearance: A vigorous pour elicits a firm looking, creamy white head. Somewhat resilient, dying away in ~2 minutes. Cool rusty bronze color! Reminiscent of old scotch whisky.
Nose: Mellow but not mild. Old wood, a little musty with some toffee.
Taste: A little vinous. Oddly sweet with a sticky toffee taste. The kind of flavor that a beer should feel like, not taste like.
Mouthfeel: Clinging, lingering. Viscous with the lightness of saltwater taffy, which is pretty viscous itself, I guess.
My take: Caveat, I'm still looking for a wee heavy that I like. The smell is VERY interesting for the style, and the mouthfeel is quite nice. But the alcohol content seems to be a hindrance to the taste, whether it was intentional or unwitting inclusion of unsavory volatiles, I imagine that this would be better at 6.0%. Man, that sounds blasphemous...

A: Body is the darkest of amber reds, but looks dark brown or black at a glance. Body more clear than cloudy. Mid-size tan head fades in minutes to leave some lacing. Pleasant looking.
S: Not the best, Nondescript roasted malt, hard water, faint booze. Flat; stale water.
T: Smooth balanced.. Roasted Malts then sweetness then faint smokiness then faint booze. Not offensive at all. Little if any hops. very enjoyable.
M: Excellent, spot on for scotch ale. More full than thin. plentiful soft carbonation and luxuriously smooth.
O: drinkability is off the charts. Tasting on week night, planned to have one (off six pack) now finishing off fourth. Could be the Chub speaking but this one a keeper.
