Can into pint glass:
Color/Appearance: A vigorous pour elicits a firm looking, creamy white head. Somewhat resilient, dying away in ~2 minutes. Cool rusty bronze color! Reminiscent of old scotch whisky.
Nose: Mellow but not mild. Old wood, a little musty with some toffee.
Taste: A little vinous. Oddly sweet with a sticky toffee taste. The kind of flavor that a beer should feel like, not taste like.
Mouthfeel: Clinging, lingering. Viscous with the lightness of saltwater taffy, which is pretty viscous itself, I guess.
My take: Caveat, I'm still looking for a wee heavy that I like. The smell is VERY interesting for the style, and the mouthfeel is quite nice. But the alcohol content seems to be a hindrance to the taste, whether it was intentional or unwitting inclusion of unsavory volatiles, I imagine that this would be better at 6.0%. Man, that sounds blasphemous...
