12 ounce can into a pils glass.

A - Excellent clarity and a straw yellow color. Tons of bubbles flying up to a small white head that seems to stay in place.

S - Clean smell of some pilsner malt.

T - Clean drinking with some malt sweetness. some hop character shows through.

M - Light in body, lots of carbonation.

D - Can drink a few. Decent quencher, want more hoppiness in my pilsner.

Not bad at all but missing some of the elements I want in the flavor department from a pilsner.

I have really liked the Oskar Blues offerings I have had in the past, this eh.Poured from the can into a pilsner a lighter yellow with a nice fluffy craterous white head that left broken lace as it settled.Fiant wet grain in the nose along with some sweet dough, this is a sweet pilsner and honestly I dont think thats what its all about, anyways sweet dough with a toasty finish, not much hop presence. Not a big fan of this beer its to sweet and lacks definition in my mind.

Mama's Little Yella Pils doesn't fool anybody on the pour - bright and vibrant straw-yellow with a medium haziness to it. The white cap settles quick but leaves a few lines of lacing near the top of the glass. Pretty refreshing looking beer.

The aroma is actually a bit more sweet than bitter, typically not the case for "Czech Pilsners". Usually the musky and leafy hop aromas take over, but this thing is loaded with sweetness that smells an awful lot like corn. Yup, big-time corn presence. Kind of malty, but just a light sweetness from the pilser malts. Hops are there, but not really "out-and-about"... kind of just hidden a bit. Slightly musty and earthy. Definitely hops of the Noble variety, but perhaps not enough of them. Overall, a mild and quiet aroma.

Sweet corn also leads the way for the taste profile, hitting quick and fast. Hops come gliding in after the initial sip; earthy, musky, and surprisingly more bitter than I was expecting. The bitterness sits on the palate for a bit as it fades into the finish with a slightly corny and floral aftertaste. Lots of yeast is noticeable in the finish, as well, although it isn't incredible standoutish. Not exactly packed with flavor, but not bad, either. It's got a nice sweet-to-bitter gradient that plays on the palate quite nicely. Thin bodied, not quite full enough to be called medium yet, with lots of carbonation. Nice, crispy mouth feel that is expected of most pilsners.

Have I had better pilsners? Yeah. But this one certainly isn't awful. I don't know if it should be labeled a "Czech Pilsner", though. But it makes for an alright American Pale Lager. IMO, this is what New Belgium's "Shift" Pale Lager was trying to be. I'd take this over that one any day. Would be good for long, hot days out in the sun.

A deeper gold color with a solid, white head.

Subtle, grassy and peppery hops in the nose. Subdued overall but it is quite clean.

An added malt bonus in the flavor that wasn't in the nose and shows a great transition into a dry, hoppy finish. Void of any green bottle skunkiness that comes with a lot of Czech-born examples.

Somewhat predictable, but it's solid overall, and well worth the time spent drinking it.

A: Pours a really vibrant yellow, more reminicient of lemonade than urine though.

S: Nothing really to smell here, there are some mild tinges of hop and citrus but nothing showy.

T: Strong pilsner appeal with a hint on citrus, great on a hot day. The carbonation satisified my need for bubbles.

M: A little less firm than I like in my drink but not watery. I was just hoping for something more substantial.

D: Easy drink, mild flavors, but interesting with a descent body and a refreshing amount of carbonation.

Mama's little yella pils... canned date on bottom, batch #9 04-02-09. States "liguid gold" as well.

A- Pours a excellent gold hazed liquid with mildly active head that falls to a minimal frothy ring with barely any lacing to be found.

S- Smells of metallic lemon and mild fresh cut grassy hops.

T-M- Taste is similar to the smell with more or less a very tangy hop presence with a very tart flavor on old lemon and lime... like flat sprite. Wet mouthfeel slides over the tongue leaving a thin astringent feel.

D- Good drinkablity for a can beer but an unbalanced taste pushes you else-where.

This was unfortunately a s***product.

Smell-smelled like methane. I thought someone had released air from their rearend but alas it was my pint of beer I just received.

I do not know if this was a very old keg, but this was worse than a mass market beer.

Review from BeerAdvocate Magazine Issue #44 (Sep 2010):

White head crackles but the lacing stays; shiny sunspot-yellow color. From fresh-cut grass to perfume-like wild- flowers to bready tones ... a lively aroma. Surprisingly big crispness from a can, which accentuates the hop bitter- ness to produce a refreshing snap and bite. A clean, bready malt comes up on the palate, slowly forming its needed base. A stand-up malt and well-placed hop complexities make it very well balanced. A sheer delight to quaff; the earth may not shake with each sip, but it does its job, and a damn good job it does.

Purchased from Discount Liquor's in Milwaukee, WI. Date on the bottom of can reads "Take One," 6-23-09. Pours a bright straw body with a thick white head that leaves a good amount of lacing. Aroma is grainy malts. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with a crisp carbonation, but not a bite. Flavors of lemony sweet malt with a bitter finish. Not anything groundbreaking here, but very well done flavorful pilsner with great drinkability.

This is a great beer, I think underrated to date. This is the type of product that can go everywhere (due to being in a can) that glass can't go, it's a lager, a pilsner at that, it's craft-brewed, and it's a great alternative to the mass-produced lagers/shadow-pilsners out there--which the US needs more of.

Smells fresh, clean, lightly sweet, with a blend of lemony and faintly citrusy hops. Grains. Maybe a hint of corn, but modest. On the palate, it's sweet up front, tasty, full of clean grains, drying out toward the finish, lightly spicy and in general, just wonderfully balanced and full of flavor with appropriate hoppy aromatics lingering in the fade.

More beers like this and we could proudly proclaim that the "session recession" is over.

A: a light golden color with a thin head.

S: primarily hops, but some citrus teases the nostrils.

T: hoppier than expected with some lemony aftertaste.

MF/D: pretty crisp and light on the tongue and exceptionally sessionable. perfect for a day at the pool.

In a pilsner glass the beer was a bright golden color with a very small white head. A fair amount of lacing.
Sweet malt aroma. Floral and outdoorsy, fresh.
A bit subdued in the taste: upfront malt, followed by some piney hops.
Crisp mouthfeel.
Very drinkable.
