Pours a brilliant caramelly copper with a frothy 2 inch cream head that lingers, eventually leaving sheets of thick lacing.
Resin, pine, fresh cut grass, onions, and catty hops form the initial aroma. Dank cannabis and fairly bready malt are accented by citrus fruit. Mint emerges. The mishmash of aroma is a tad strange.
Flavor reveals more of a citrusy start, with mango and grapefruit being overtaken by slightly sweet, toasted caramel malt for a second, finishing somewhat resiny, lightly bitter, and peppery. Fresh cut grass and pine surface as it warms, with floral hops and apricot adding flavor to the aftertaste. I burp onion.
Body is on the thick side, with fairly low carbonation, a slight astringent graininess, and moderate alcohol warmth.
Spared no expense on hop flavoring, and not as sweet as some examples. Could use a little more malt character, imo. But lots of great hop character. Rye doesn't overpower.

can into a pint glass. Canned 4/28/14, so less than 3 months old. Alright, lets do this.
Looks pretty decent, hazy yellow, lite carbonation. small 1/2 inch white head which persisted. light but interesting lacing.
Almost nothing at all on the nose, some sweet malts.
What the freak? Very sweet, and very boozy. I did get some faint sweetness on the nose, but no boozy smell at all. Almost no hops at first, but then did get some bitterness along the edge of the tongue. Tongue itself coated with sweetness, and an alcohol burn in the back of the throat. Now this was not exactly unpleasant, but not expected from a less than 3 month old DIPA. 10%abv very obvious.
Mouth was around medium, and a little syrupy.
Was pretty disapointed in this. The taste I got, while not unpleasant, was not what I was expecting.
