Appearance: A deep reddish gold with a thick creamy head up top and superb lacing. Absolutely beautiful, one of the best looking beers I have seen.
Smell: Grassy and spicy hops, a very fresh, slightly citric/piney garlic and onion. Some malt sweetness is detectable in the back, as well as some breadiness, but the hops overwhelm the smell.
Taste: An incredibly unique hop character, a little more citric than the aroma, but the spiciness is just as big, perhaps a little more earthy as well. The bitterness is very harsh but is somewhat offset by a very pleasant but prevalent sweet malt character, similar to that of a red ale. On the finish a slightly biscuity english malt character arrises, but is still dominated by the grassy garlic hops.
Mouthfeel: Very smooth and softly carbonated, it really lets the hops do the talking. It is easy to confuse the harshness of the rest of the beer with an unfriendly mouthfeel, it really is quite modest in reality.
Overall: A very unique and very intense IPA, not for the faint hearted. Anyone who is looking for a hoppy beer that is different from the classic west coast or east coast styles, give this a shot, the hop character is far from traditional. Oskar blues deserves some credit for making such a unique ale in such a popular style. As good as the style gets in my opinion.

Born on date : 4/24/14 - Enjoyed 7/27/14
A: Honey colored with 1 finger of white head. The head settles relatively quickly. The can includes a very obvious, and readable, born on date on the bottom!
S: Piney and floral. There are mild hints of citrus. As it warmed I got more grassy smells.
T: Sweet on the front of the tongue. The finish is piney and grassy with just a hint of bitter.
M: Smooth and easy to drink. The carbonation is low.
O: Great overall beer. All of the parts play well together. Only a slight hint of the 8% ABV. This beer is complex and has lots of flavors going on. Also the bitterness is kept in check - which I like.
