Poured from a 16 oz. can (Canned On 02-24-12) into a snifter glass.
A strong pour yields a 2 1/2-finger off white head that slowly recedes to a thin, clumpy dusting and thick foam ring. The body is a translucent reddish amber with a small amount of slow-rising carbonation bubbles. Great lacing can be seen clinging to the glass between sips but very little manages to last.
The nose is filled with a great mix of pine and citrus hops aromas. A strong tangerine scent is almost overpowered by all of pine. The malt aromas are nearly nonexistant compared to all the strength of the hops aromas.
Each sip starts out just like the nose witb strong flavors of orange-like citrus, a heap of pine needles, and just a bit of caramel malt. Swallowing the beer releases more pine flavors that slowly mellow to a decent piney bitterness.
The medium body let's the flavors really stick to the palate while still remaining surprisingly smooth and drinkable. The carbonation is almost unnoticeable until the swallow, where this beer suddenly becomes rather crisp.
