Picked this up in DC over the summer. Poured from a 12 oz can into a tulip glass. Love the look of the can, and the beer's a thing of beauty as well. Pours a slightly hazy amber color, with a tall 2" sticky white head that leaves tons of spiderweb lacing as it reduces.
Has a hefty pine nose, with a slightly peaty malt backbone. Hints of smoke, butter and peppery spice are also present.
Smooth creamy malt to start, with hints of oat and peat, while I know this is a red ale, it has hints of being a scotch style ale. Pine and pith, with a pleasant citrus finish, it's hard to believe this taste hides an 8.7% abv.
Thick, creamy and spicy, the mouthfeel of this brew is excellent.
Oskar Blues just came to Ohio, though this is not in the line up of what's being sold here. I hope that this brew joins the line up, because it is phenomenal. Smooth malt with a peppery hop, each balancing nicely for a super-tasting brew. Highly recommend!,

A: poured from a 16 oz can into a pint glass, red brown colored with a large foamy offwhite head that lingers leaving good lacing, clear
S: heavy on hops, earth, pine, citrus , grapefruit, breast malt sweetness, tangy and mouth watering
T: pine bitterness up front, bitter at first with a lemon quality, sweetens to honey and slight raisin flavors, hint of heavy alcohols and esters
M: medium to full with good carbonation, slight alcohol presence
O: nice balance of bitter mixed with quite sweet maltiness
