This beer was hand delivered to me by a college buddy visiting from Boulder.
Appearance -Magnificent burnt orange color., with a dense rocky head to compliment it. The head did fade quickly to some slightly frothy bubbles clinging to the glass. These bubbles stuck with the beer to the last drop. It's always a treat when you enjoy a beer with decent head retention that finishes with the beer.
Smell- Sweet smell of hops, along with that grainy phenol that seems to be present in most Oskar Blues products. It's not bad, just a little different.
Taste- This beer is a full on hop bomb of epic proportions. It's very complex with many different layers of hop bitterness balancing each other out hear. I picked up some tartness, some grapefruit, as well as a slightly harsh bitterness as well. Nice balance of warming alcohol, along with some biscuity, malty notes.
Mouthfeel- Chewy, full bodied beer with Dank voluptuous proportions of hops to please any hop-freak. The bitterness lingers a bit in this beer, but then fades out nicely.
Drinkability-This is a terrific beer. I enjoyed it very much. Although given it's lofty price at around twelve bucks a four-pack, chances are this one will be reserved for special occasions.
