12 oz. can, tulip

A – Medium copper and mostly clear. A big, craggy, off-white to light tan foam stand, 2-3 inches with very long retention.

S – Pine, resin, wood, herbs, a big impression of pink bubble gum. Bread crust, a touch of caramel, and a minor spicy note. Stone fruit lingers in the background.

T – Resin, stone fruit, and bubble gum. Pine is more subdued, hop bitterness comes through big time on the finish. Sweet bread crust with a tinge of caramel.

M – Fairly heavy to moderate-heavy in body with medium-light carbonation. A lot of sweetness from the malt up front, briefly subdued by a hop-bitter blast, then residual sweetness on the finish. Juicy, not dry, throughout.

O – Great aroma profile is offset by a bit whacky mouthfeel.

This is a pretty huge beer and a great example of the style. Appropriately majorly hopped, but with a strong red malt backbone, carbonation is perfect. On the downside, it's a little boozy. I'd love to see what they could do with this at 6ish% (vs. 8.7%). Overall, excellent.

L: A vibrant red-orange, a finger and a half of beautiful beige head. Fairly clear, a sparse amount of visible rising carbonation.

S: Tons of delicious citrus hops (perhaps hints of tropical fruit as well), with hints of pine as well. Hops smell more mellow than biting. A little bit of resin aroma.

T: Strong tropical fruit flavors dominate, with citrus-pine being the secondary flavor (still very present though).

F: Carbonation is fairly light. Medium-full body. Low amount of bitterness.

O: This is a quite good DIPA.

Pours a very dark orange with thick head, smell is definitely hoppy. The taste, in my opinion, is as good as any ipa that i have tasted. it somehow balances the bitter with a sweet backbone, mouthfeel is extra thick and sticky for an ipa which rounds it off perfectly.i dont really like ipa's but this is a stunner.

12 oz can. Pours clean deep red/bronze with two finger off white head, fades slowly leaving sticky lace. Sweet caramel malt aroma. Sweet caramel malt taste and lots of piney hops to balance. Solid bitterness through the finish but the overall flavor is sticky sweet. A bit of alcohol comes through in the end. Medium soft oily mouthfeel. Very tasty brew, but a sipper.

Canned 6/5/15, drinking it beginning of 3/16. Poured into nonic pint. Very dark red brown colors. Healthy creamy lacing and active carb show it still has some vitality. Number of dark particulates, kind of surprising. The hop profile is definitely down-slight malty scent, little pine notes underneath. Malt presence has remained on taste, mildly bitter with some zest still there. Held up rather well for a nine month old imperial ale.

12 Oz green and silver can. Poured into a tall stemmed tulip.

G'Knight is an absolute dandy. Not your classic malt dominate amber ale, but a rich blood red gem that has a hop bill to match it's big sticky sweetness. One of the best red ales I've ever had and Idk why I waited til now to pick this up. I've grown extremely fond of Oskar Blues and their ales. I went back to get a whole mess of this stuff. Perfect for the on again off again cold weather we are dealing with right now. It's feel is the stuff of legend. Big with a thick texture and sticks to every inch of the mouth. G'Knight rocks.

A - nice red/copper colored beer with a nice white head that sticks and leaves a nice lacing
S - big caramel malts, very mild citrus/grapefruit/mandarins
T - caramel malts, citrus hops, grapefruit, some orange/tangerine
M - light to medium mouthfeel, high drinkability, could very easily be slammed, alcohol is covered at 8.7%, aftertaste is caramel malts and mild clean/citrus hops
O - great American red ale, very clean and citrusy with a solid malt backbone.

Pours from the can a ruby red with a light tan head that leaves lots of lace as the beer disappears.
The aroma is mainly malty to my nose with a bit of subdued pine.
Taste is bitter citrus pith and pine with an underlying camel and bready body. A drying and bittering finish.
Mouthfeel is medium and fairly smooth.

Light amber color poured to a 2 inch almond color head in an IPA glass. Smell wasn't overpowering but nice. No booziness to it as some imperials and went down smooth without a lingering aftertaste. A solid choice!

Poured into a standard pint glass: color is amber, head is light tan, presenting about 1/2 inch thick and laces the glass slightly.

Smell is subdued, mild caramel malt and some toast, hops are pungent, piney.

Taste is fairly malty, mostly caramel, some malt and toast, hops are similar to the aroma with more grapefruit and citrus rind component.

Mouthfeel is pleasant, not too cloying or over bitter, solid carbonation and nice smooth finish.

overall, a very good strong red ale, very quality malt flavors and aromas that expand as it warms with a pleasant underlying creaminess.

pours a dark amber with thick creamy head.

smell is sweet, full of caramel malt aroma.

taste is fantastic, creamy and full bodied. sweet and malty yet delivers a hop bite, especially near the end. notes of alcohol on the tongue as well. full and complex imperial red. goes down smooth.

overall this is a pretty good beer. as a fan of red and amber ales i had to try this. a quality beer for sure. complex and full bodied, a nice change up from big stouts and IPAs. even though this is hoppy and bitter there are clear red ale characteristics.

Another amazing offer by OB. Poured with a beautiful 1" head and immediately popped with a citrus aroma. Let it breathe for a few minutes and then dove in to probably a top three IPA on my long list of IPA's. Grapefruit and other citrus notes are prominent with a wonderfully clen aftertaste. I will partake in many more. Thanks again Oskar Blues!

Not really my thing. Looks beautiful - nice ruby-copper with lasting, clingy top. Aroma is somewhat musty, spicy earthen with some resin notes. Flavor has a good bitter at the front, amongst tropical fruits, that ends up lingering unpleasantly. Not a very clean finish. Maybe a bit more malt than I'd like. Sometimes dipas do this unbalanced thing I don't so much enjoy.

Let this baby breath for 5 minutes or so before drinking. The Carmel and toffee flavor really come alive. Very flavorful Imperial Red IPA. This baby is beautiful in the glass and on the pallet. Feel is a bit thick - not so much refreshing as delicious and rich. Very well done Oskar!

Pours a nice ruby red with off white foam which dissipates rather quickly. Smell is cranberry and malt - the taste follows - cranberry and hops straight to a strong malt flavor then a little bit of warming booziness to finish. Interesting and enjoyable!

I picked up a four pack of pint cans and it was already chilled. I’ve heard a lot of cool stuff about it so I grabbed some. This is an Imperial Red Ale with 8.70% ABV.

Look-It pours a beautiful copper orange that reminds me of orange blossom honey. The head is thick and rich and settles to a thin layer shortly. The lacing is dropping, sparse, and wet.

Smell-It has thick aromas of herbs, spices, and wood after some forthcoming plum and clove. It smells like caramel melting on top of papaya next to a bucket of pine sol and a burning cedar tree.

Taste-I taste mango, grapefruit rind, pine resin, smoked cedar wood, chalky aspirin, zingy herbs, a full malt backbone that hides the ample alcohol content, and then a dry hoppy finish. There is a lingering coating on the tongue that tastes of pine resin, herbs, and alcohol.

Mouthfeel-It feels silky smooth, rich and creamy as well as moist and full-bodied.

Overall-The Red Ale is imperial in this case and deserves the name. Oskar Blues is excellent!

had this on tap at oskar blues
pours amber red with an off white head
smell sweet and slightly floral
taste slighty sweet with a very dry finish
left a dry slightly unappealing aftertaste
overall solid
of note: i have been drinking this in the can for ages now
this was first time on tap and the dry aftertaste and slightly off taste it left i had never noticed in the past
still enjoyable, and one of my favorites in the oskar blues lineup

Not too bad of a blend of malts and hops. The alcohol content is a bit more prominent than I would like, but fortunately my it doesn't hurt it too much.

I love Oskar Blues not because of their popularity but their beers really achieve another level, across from style to style my palate truly appreciates nearly all of the ones I've had.ive drank this beer many times and am now reviewing it.aroma smells like a very quality mash, mixed with some tangy and dank aromas, slightly sweet due to the eloquent malt bill and dry hopping.the head is a bit fluffy but calms down.tastes like an abundance of jammed out berries and dankish piney earthy hops.so much is going on with this beer,I've had it on draft and it's even more clean and open, grab a keg and your boys are in for a very savory drunk evening.

16 ounce can poured in to a tulip.

a: Bright, loucious and juicy copper body. 2 finger foamy eggshell head. Sticky, patchy lacing.

s: Resin and pine up front. Hints of anise and plums with the malt.

t: Sweet mango, caramel, crusty bread, citrus rind, resin. The beer has the slightest hint of alcohol hidden in the dry hoppy finish.

mf: Medium body and carbonation. Delightfully creamy. Smooth finish begs one to take another sip.

o: This is my second G'Knight and an edit of my first review. Hops are the star of this beer but it is wonderfully balanced.
