A: 2014 vintage. Yellow-gold; clear (previously [pre-2014] unfiltered). Decent head.

Aroma: fruity with pineapple and tropical fruits. Also a touch yeasty and floral.

T: mild floral hops up front, lightly-toasted malts; hints of caramel and tropical fruits. Mild for an IPA.

M: Medium-light body; crisp feel

O: well-balanced, but don't expect normal US (or OB) IPA hoppiness.

Rather easy drinking and malty for an ipa. A beer to drink all day long.

Poured ontap in a shaker pint, the beer is a pale, hazy, copper coloring with a sparse, filmy, white head. Aromas of tart grapefruit and lime forward, subtle berry fruit, toasted grains, and subtle funk. Flavors are more of the farmhouse funk and spice forward, with notes of sage, clove, evergreen, allspice, and subtle souir funk, with a resinous and piney hops character, and a toasted backbone. Light, crisp, effervesced body with an herbal and medicinal aftertaste. The finish is spiced and funky linger, with a dry, effervesced feel. Interesting.

Pours a golden orange color with excellent clarity. Foam leaves behind plenty of lacing and the beer looks like an IPA should. The smell is subdued, some hops and a light bubblegum sweetness. Mostly American IPA characteristics were coming from this beer, tons of grapefruit, herb, pine and bitterness. It was almost harsh it was so bitter. The Belgian element was not much more than candi sugar sweetness. Slight sweetness not much else was noticed besides hops. Full, well carbonated body, and there is a hop bite drying out the palate. Its pretty nice for what it is, and it is Icey in PA. Good beer as usual from Oskar Blues.

(had this on tap at City Beer Store, San Francisco mid-late April - they called it "Icey Wheat IPA" on the board, info elsewhere suggests the name I gave it above - it's a "COllaboration" with the Colorado company Icelantic Skis)

A: Xmas-light yellow-gold, moderate haze, snotty/webby lace

S: honey n melon, boldish woody/floral/leafy/candy-apple aromas

T: honey and quite mild floral hops up front, lightly-toasted malt flavor and slight caramel, turbinado sweetness late, long phenolic finish

M: has a bit of a lager-like light/crisp, soft/smooth feel

O: very well-balanced, just not as much an "IPA" as I would have expected from OB - more of a lightly-hoppy pale wheat ale

It's decent, but I wish I had had a fresh one (this one is 3 months old). This best part of this beer was the gorgeous head when poured.

On tap at Yard Hosue in Northridge, CA.

Pours a hazy orange with a foamy off-white head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, earth, spice, and citrus aromas. Taste is much the same with earth and citrus flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that has an interesting earthy quality to it.

Pours a lightly cloudy dark gold with good head and a lace ring around glass with an interesting aroma that unfortunately is very mild and contains a balance of citric hops and mild yeastiness. The body of the beer is light and smooth thanks to some nice yeast strains and there is a wheaty sweetness to the beer but the beer has a subdued, as if both sides were trying to let the other take advantage but neither would, yeast/wheat twang and spicy citric hop sharpness and finishes crisp and dry. Not a bad beer but not the best balance between styles or most composed beer.

a great can of beer here, blue collar still, a strong pint, but a darn well refined one, and this is frankly way better than any other beer i have had from these guys in recent memory. its frothing over white fluff on top of a rich looking brassy clear base. the nose is juicy and tropical, pineapple juice i smell, and maybe galaxy as a principal varietal, although its hard to tell. the flavor doesnt quite pop on the hops like the aroma does, but its equally delicious. when i drink it fast, it looses its uniqueness a little, but when i set it down for a minute or two and smell and taste it again, it sort of blows me away. fuller bodied from the grain, but not overly flavorful on the malt side. pale two row and some light crystal probably is all. i like its clean cold nature, and i am glad they packaged something different finally, even if it was rather limited. great use of the hops, i would love confirmation on what kind they are. this is great pale ale, pushing ipa on the hop scale, and appropriately big for winter.
