There are pumpkin based flavors that are not pumpkin pie. With this in mind we set out to make an autumnal beer in the pumpkin tradition that wasn't simply a typical pie-spiced beer. Looking to enhance the pumpkin's naturally dry starchy flavors, we roasted its meat touched with orange oil, pink peppercorns and candied ginger. This was added to the mash of our high gravity cream ale recipe. We then took our soup inspired ale and aged it in our Scobeyville, NJ neighbors’, Laird's, AppleJack barrels from last Halloween to this. Time in the Scobeyville wood has mellowed the peppercorns’ heat, orange zest, and sweet ginger bite and added the autumnal note of bushels of red apples. Drink Pumpkin Cream Scobeyville Wood because there are spices on the shelf behind the nutmeg and barrels beyond bourbon.

Enjoyed at EBF 2014.

Spices from pumpkin are prickly and mixed with the apple brandy makes for a very interesting melange. Color of the body is like ginger ale. Would have liked more pronounced pumpkin flavors as the apple over shines the base but overall i enjoyed this.

From 11/26/14 notes. On tap at the brewery in NJ.

Pours a murky brown-orange color with high carbonation evident and one inch of white head. Light pumkin, vanilla, cream, bready malts, dough, light fruity malts, light hops in the taste. Very light spice and ginger. Medium body and low to moderate carbonation, insanely smooth body.

Overall I like it but the pumpkin is light, and everything in general is light. Again, not the most flavorful beer, but I like the cream/vanilla aspect to it and it is crazy smooth and easy to drink for the high ABV. Not my favorite pumpkin beer but worth checking out.

Light orange/apricot color with a thick white head that fades but laces the glass nicely. Apple, brandy, wood, char and light pumpkin rounds out a somewhat subdued nose. Taste opens up with some apple and brandy notes, spicy peppercorn, woody barrel notes, light pumpkin and some notable char in the finish. Starts carbonated and finishes creamy and dry with a lighter than expected body, I'd call it high side of light in body. This is a completely different twist and the flavors work. Enjoyed this.

Wow! This one is all wood shop, cedar shavings, life inside a barrel.

Light pumpkin/apricot color with a thick white head that fades fast but laces well.

S - Wood shavings, sawdust, wood shop, Apple, brandy, lumber, char and light pumpkin round out a subdued nose. Too much wood for me.

T - Taste opens up with more apple and brandy notes, spicy peppercorn, but never over comes the woody barrel, wood shaving, wood shop dominance. Tiny amount of pumpkin and char in the finish.

F - Finishes creamy and dry with great feel and body.

Wakes you up! A better pumpkin, and a rasing barrel aged beer. Original. Not for everyone and even I dont think it the best of the brewer.
