Like all things truly Jersey, 077XX makes the most in balancing through its accentuation of extremes. Inspired by the west coast IPAs we love, we added a thump of hops to a dynamic malt profile and chose a yeast to drive these two further than they wanted to go. Throw our water into this mix and you will find dank green resinous hops popping over orange, mango and papaya aromas, with just enough sweetness of body to make the long finish a pleasure to have around. Drink 0’Dub when your night matters.

Not a bad IPA. Received this on a trade. Thanks man!

Appearance: Light hazy golden color. Some clarity on this one and a nice foamy white head sticks around for the duration of the pour.

Aroma: Somewhat resinous, Some fruity notes but not really strong in that regard. This is a somewhat floral IPA.

Taste: At first it might have been just me but it was pretty bitter, but as I drank through it changed and became very smooth. The balance opened up and it was a very pleasant tasting IPA. Nice tropical fruit notes, mango, pineapple and maybe some piney resin going on. The bitterness hits you on the back of the tongue and it is pretty smooth otherwise. This is a very tasty IPA.

Overall: I appreciate receiving this one on the trade it is very nice and well worth the high marks. If you get a chance seek this one out its solid for sure. (847 characters)

077XX has got the perfect look that one wants for an Imperial IPA- toasted orange with plenty of carbonation and great head retention. The aroma is very exciting and bright with bursts of zesty orange peel. In the flavor, it's evident that there is a formidable malt foundation, but that is felt more in the body than in the taste itself. We get more of a west coast style attack of bitter resinous hops front and center. It seems sweeter than what one might expect from this description though, it's certainly different and more complex than say, something like Palate Wrecker, and quite balanced as advertised. Overall, I would pit this against any top rated Double IPAs in the country! Score one for New Jersey Craft Beer! Carton, we are proud to have you making superb craft beer locally. (792 characters)

Big thanks to hugebulge for swinging by the brewery today and nabbing some cans and the companion teku.

a - brew pours a crisp transparent yellow orange with a generous frothy IPA head.

s - nose is stunning east coast IPA. Thick resinous citric with a tinge of alcohol heat on the back end.

t/m/o - boom. Spot on and easy drinking IPA. Great crisp citric hop presence. On the thinish side for such a big chewy beer which makes it dangerously easy to drink. Really worthwhile and fantastic beer. Check it out if you get a chance. (532 characters)

Been trying to find this one and got it at the Edison ale house in Newark. Overall a very sneaky brew. Don't know what the ibus are but very unassuming and very easy drinking for 7.85 percent. Really good but subtle at the same time. Would love to find this in cans. Good shit! (277 characters)

A: Slightly off-white head with moderate persistence. Brilliant cathedral window lacing that clings to the edge of the glass like glue. Mildly hazy coppper to tangerine orange color.

S: Huge hop aroma with strawberry, pineapple and tropical fruit punch like scents. Dank pine with grapefruit and mango are slightly less noticeable in strength. Mild maltyness that barely makes it through the hop assault. Overall very fruity (not esters, but hops) and pleasant.

T: Juicy, resinnous, evergreen, overripe mango, slight malty finish. strawberry, pineapple and thats just the beginning. Firm bitterness from the start with a clean finish. as the beer warms up the malty flavor becomes more apparent. Slight grassiness but very refreshing. Clean fermentation with no oxidation.

M: Sticky mouthfeel from all the resinous hops. Medium body with moderate carbonation levels. The body is bigger then the ultra dry west coast and I like that!

O: My second (and last) Carton beer given to me from my GF from her trip back east and I can’t wait to try another. Going into this beer I had no expectations and had never heard of it and it really impressed me with the refinement of the recipe. Huge pineapple, strawberry hop flavor with spot on mouthfeel and no harshness in the bittering department. (1,294 characters)

Very well done double ipa.
Look: Nice yellow golden color slightly hazy. Decent lacing and carbonation.
Smell: Citrus, floral, tropical all very pronounced, with slight pineyness.
Taste: Sweet, slight caramel, malty citrus flavors and a floral after note.
Feel: Full flavor, medium body, fills the palate.
Overall: Quality DIPA right there with some of the best. (362 characters)

As someone who grew up in the 077 zip code area, I'm proud of this beer. Here goes:

L: Relatively clear, but slightly hazy gold color. Lots of carbonation, a great head, and nice lacing (head is massive and very fluffy). Great appearance.

S: Floral but very tropical as well. Lots of flowers, herbs, pineapple, mango, citrus, etc. Very dank.

T: Follows the nose, which is great. However, the scents are balanced by caramel malts, which is great. Hop flavors include the tropical flavors found in the smell, flowers, and some grapefruit.

M: Nice and full-bodied. Great DIPA.

O: Great beer. Makes me proud. (623 characters)

Very robust. I liked this beer because it was bold. Has very strong initial pine hop flavor that transitions into a citrusy orangey/light-ripe-grapefruit taper. Would definitely drink again. (190 characters)

Pours dark, lightly cloudy yellow with a decent white head that dissipates fairly quickly.

Smells robust, but not variegated. Punchy resinous hops mix with fruit. Nice.

Tastes like it smells: big and bold, but without the variety or balance that marks excellent DIPAs. Giant hops out front, starting off with pine nodes and then moving quickly into ripe fruit nodes of mango. Ends with just a wee little bit of yeast that's not enough to adequately balance out the hops. (479 characters)

I really need to get over the whole beer out of a can not being good thing because this beer was killer. TONS of hops and all sorts of citrus. Just my kind of DIPA. Job well done. Glad I got this in a trade. Would drink to all day if I could. (247 characters)

Served in a snifter from the 16 oz can.

Impressive head right off the bat. Two and a half fingers of chewy, burly, off-white head that lingers well and is all about leaving that lace. Body is perfectly clear and a light golden wheat color. 4.5

Woosa with the pineapple and citrus. Passionfruit too. It's a jungle in here. Resinous and piney in a lighter way, ditto the malt and a touch of solvent. 4.25

Juicy citrus gives way to a creamy blend of caramel and vanilla before a resinous and moderately spicy hop finish. I'd wish for more fruit flavors given what the nose suggested, so I'm a tad disappointed not to find more of that on the tongue. 4

The body and drinkability are great on this. No hop burn and accompanying aggressive carbonation. A measured sweet touch that is done pretty masterfully. 4.5

Great look, nose, feel and and a darn good flavor. Sign me up. (874 characters)

Pour from 16oz can. Dark gold, creamy thick off white head. Tropical citrus aroma with a hint of the ABV. Hop bitterness up front, stron malt presence but not too sweet. Very nice citrus hop with perfectly bitter finish. This is a great DIPA and the can carries a bonus 4oz! (274 characters)

Cool "New to me beer/brewery" received in a great trade with BostonBrewser... Big thanks Dan! Poured into my FW goblet... Hazy light golden with a nice white head that shows good retention and lacing... Nose is pleasingly dry with fruity citrus/mango hoppiness, dusting of pale malt helps add heft to the hops... Big Bitterness but not bruising.. hop flavors are again leaning toward the fruits with more tropical essence than citrus.. Light body for the ABV helps with a bigger drinkability.. Really pretty good.. Thanks again Dan! Hope we can do it again soon!

A glorious can of this was shared with me today at the Plan Bee Savage release.

Pours a slightly dark yellowish orange, with a one inch head, and a lot of lacing.

Smells way juicy and stuff. It's bright and fresh, lots of citrus, orange, pineapple and peach. I'm getting a bit of pine, too.

This is one of the freshest tasting IPA's you'll ever find. So juicy, tons of citrus, some grass, a good amount of pine resin, and no real malt character at all.

This is medium bodied, really crisp and dry, with some slight lingering bitterness. It's insanely drinkable.

This is a game-changer. One of the best IPAs. (612 characters)

Officially my favorite Double IPA. Everyone argues over Heady and Pliny and they are obviously there for a reason but everyone has their own palate. This one is it for me. Even for a New Englander. (197 characters)

Appearance: Arrives at the bar with a clear amber look to the liquid and a perky head on top; bits of lacing linger behind

Smell: Citrus and tropical fruit, notably orange, papaya and mango

Taste: A somewhat sweet malt backbone awakes the palate, with the hops charging forward quickly, bringing orange, papaya and, to a lesser extent, mango; highly bitter, after the swallow, with some warmth in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation

Overall: A pretty nice DIPA; while I like the hop flavors, the bitterness leaves it a tad unbalanced and the sugary malt makes it slightly too sweet - more nitpicks than substantive concerns, though (671 characters)

16oz can poured into my Tree House tulip. Last of a tremendous box from SadMachine, thanks again!

A: Pours a cloudy golden-amber with a respectable frothy two-inch head, the latter of which settles over the course of perhaps three minutes into a filmy collar around the beer. Plentiful sudsy lacing as the beer is consumed.

S: Surprisingly muted at first, with notes of cut grass, lightly sweet pale malt, and damp herbal aromas, but as the beer warms, tangerine, guava, mango, and grapefruit all come out to play as well.

T: Herbaceous bitterness up front, quickly followed by wet grass and grapefruit. The tropical fruit and sweeter citrus notes come out to play closer to the mid, with mango, papaya, and tangerine displaying most prominently. Mild sweet crackery malt and a mellow peppery alcohol bite towards the back. Lingering dry pepper/pine finish.

M: Medium-bodied, pretty sticky but with sufficiently zippy carbonation to lift the resinous hop oils off of the palate into a surprisingly dry, clean finish. Dangerously drinkable.

D: As noted above, this is a dangerously drinkable beer, in many respects coming across more like a single than a DIPA--and this is by no means a bad thing. Flavorful, complex enough to stay interesting yet refreshing enough to stay endlessly drinkable, and with a deviously sneaky ABV, it's probably a good thing that this isn't readily available for me--New Jersey, between Carton and Kane you guys have a problem in the best kind of way! (1,485 characters)

16 oz. can gifted from Mr. K. Sevarg (thanks!), unknown brewing/packaging date but guaranteed fresh, poured into my Gandhi-Bot snifter glass and drank over an hour

A: 3/3 - golden coloration; low clarity (can't read or see through), initial frothy white head settles into glass lacing with some carbonation lakes and mixed sized bubbles; moderate alcohol legs

S: 9/12 - moderate grassy, herbal and floral notes on first opening, but, as warms, starting to pick up more tropical fruits - mango, papaya and guava; mild malt character and alcohol; no diacetyl, no DMS

T: 16/20 - moderate bitterness right up front; followed by that same combination of herbal/grassy/floral admixed with tropical fruit flavors, there is a mild sweetness and alcohol but doesn't taste like 7% ABV (and drinks more like a single than DIPA to me); some residual sweetness but not-at-all cloying

M: 4/5 - moderate body (with hop oils and alcohol); moderate carbonation; high drinkability

T: 9/10 - very good-to-outstanding DIPA that reminds me of a slightly boozier version of Ithaca's Flower Power or Half Acre's Daisy Cutter (and maybe more similar to Double Daisy Cutter but have yet to try); I don't really see the whole "East Coast DIPA" thing because I associate that moniker with more sweetness/malt character (think Captain Lawrence Reserve Imperial IPA) but whatever, it's flavorful, refreshing and recommended; looking forward to trying more Carton beers ASAP

Pours a pale gold with a large off-white head. Lots of sticky lacing.

Big tropical nose. Lemon and mango most prominent. Some orange and floral notes. Lily, hyacinth, and lavender.

I get the floral hops more on the taste than in the nose. Mango and papaya present but muted. Malt is biscuity/chewy.

Medium body with medium carbonation. A metallic aftertaste which is a bit unpleasant. Lingering citrus fading to bitterness.

A well balanced DIPA with good citrus/tropical/floral notes. Only issue was the metallic aftertaste. (539 characters)

Trade extra. Awesome! Can pours hazy golden with a half finger white head on top. Really nice fresh floral aroma, grassy, some citrus, raw hops, lightly sweet malts in the backdrop. Flavor starts with a big punch if bitter pine up front leading to a funky grassy hop note on top of lightly sweet malts and a nice small bit of tropical fruits. Really crisp and clean, dangerously drinkable for a supposed DIPA, plus carbonation and slightly dry body. This is excellent! (468 characters)
