Like all things truly Jersey, 077XX makes the most in balancing through its accentuation of extremes. Inspired by the west coast IPAs we love, we added a thump of hops to a dynamic malt profile and chose a yeast to drive these two further than they wanted to go. Throw our water into this mix and you will find dank green resinous hops popping over orange, mango and papaya aromas, with just enough sweetness of body to make the long finish a pleasure to have around. Drink 0’Dub when your night matters.

Why doesn't this beer have a cult following yet. I got this in a trade so I could add New Jersey to my list. Little did I know I was getting this tremendous fruity, dank, hop bomb. The nose on this is amazing I poured a 16oz can into a glass and could smell it when I walked across the room. Fruit and floral scents carry through the air. The taste is just as good but there is a real dank taste at first then it gets sweet and fruity. This is truly amazing.

Super fresh. Poured golden amber (with predominantly yellow hue in the light). Mango and peach notes dominate over a clean, crackery malt profile. Nose has hints of earthy and piney resins coming through. On the palate, these piney and earthy flavors hit BIG off the jump. Hints of the peach and mango come through in the aftertaste. All balanced by hearty bitterness. Some alcohol comes through on this one. Clean, slightly oily/coating mouthfeel characteristic of a DIPA. Appropriate. Unique East Coast DIPA, easily crushable, but worth savoring. Seek out Carton.

A: Clear, medium golden straw. Rocky white head

S: Green papaya, mango; dank grass. Very floral. Persimmon.

M: Soft, mellow body. Low-med carbonation.

T: Light tropical. Smooth and slightly sweet malt profile. Nice dank, piney hops. Pleasant level of bitterness.

Second Fiddle, Gbot & This are VERY similar to each other. I might be a tad bit buzzed while reviewing this. I'd easily grab w/o hesitation while buzzed....more than likely sober too. Cheers!

Employing some of the more sexy hops on the market, making an easy drinking, high gravity hop bomb seems to be easy nowadays. Though not as easy as it seems, the Carton Brewers have channeled their inner Heady and given us a juicy, tropical and bitter creaminess for which the taste buds simply yearn.

Bright and beautiful, its golden straw hues highlight is calming carbonation through a slightly diffused glow. Building a head of lather and froth, the scent rolls onto the nose with white grapefruit, under-ripened orange, mango, passionfruit, pineapple, gooseberry and lime. Its honied sweet taste coats the tongue and brings on a light candied and caramelized taste before the hops really go to work upon the palate.

What's short and sweet of malts early, all of that is short lived as the hops crash the party and cast the sweetness aside. But its that blend of citrusy oranges and grapefruit that meld with the softer tropical fruit flavors for a sensation of sherbet or cream sickle only to be accompanied with bitter grasses, herbs, verbena and citrus peel.

Creamy, malty-dry and clean- the medium-light ale trends drier and drier as the hop oils build and the alcohol evaporate the tongue. What's left is a fond memory of simple citrus on the palate.

A: Orange-amber in color with a finger of white head. Was hoping for a more brilliant color given the description.

S: Aroma of pineapple juice and pine.

T: Follows nose. Pineapple hits first, followed by resinous flavor, backed up with a bitter hop finish. Finish is actually less bitter than the 80 IBU's would usually indicate.

M: Medium-high carbonation as expected. Nice and refreshing.

O: A really top notch DIPA. Especially appreciate the tropical flavors.

Poured out of a can, love the cloudy orange look of this beer, nice frothy head. Lot of different taste going on here, fruity mango, orange, just a perfect DIPA! One of the best beers I've had out of a can! Goes down smooth, watch out!

It isn't bad fresh, but it's not much else other than hoppy and bitter. I don't get beautiful citrus or tropical fruit notes, there isn't much pine, just a bitter double IPA. Locally, I'd go with Green Diamonds by Other Half or one of SingleCut's double IPAs. Carton's smoked pineapple is a more delicious beer.

Exactly what you want from a DIPA. Tropical aroma with a dry finish that allows you to have many in an evening. Super drinkable and the malt doesn't come out if they age for a while.

Delicious. If you like good IPAs then give this one a try as soon as you see it! I hate JAF's (Jersey Ass F#@%'s but they sure made a good double IPA. Cheers

Lotta malt and booze showing through on this bad boy, and it wasn't an old can either. The present booze notes didn't at all mesh with the hop profile, and I'm lefting wondering at this one's popularity in the Garden State.

Poured from a 16oz can into a snifter. Acquired in a trade as an extra with MagnusBrewing, thank you very much!

Pours a clear golden body with a white foamy head that reduces slowly but leaves little lacing.

Aromas of caramel and pine, resin and pale malt, caramel and breadyness. Smells like an average pale ale, prefer a little more hop presence.

On the tongue is equally as so-so.. subtle resin and pine, some citrus and fruit rinds.. astringent aspirin on the finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Underwhelmed with this one.. I can't find a best by date but it tastes like the hops may have faded.

Can. Pours a mildly hazy, golden orange hue. Nice, thick head. Off white, doughy and light in lacing. Fresh, tropical hop juice. Hops are dominant but there is a distinct sweetness, too. Some musty hops. Peach and pineapple and almost some berry aroma, which is cool. Sweet citrus. Pale malt. Flavor is fresh, juicy and ripe hop-citrus. Definitely peach and mango! Love those specialty fruits. Musty hops, almost like citrus rind. Pale, easy malt is decently sweet. Hops bring the bitter boom. Just a tickle of heat on the finish. Also finishes juicy with some sweetness; doesn't completely dry out. Body is light and too easy to drink. Haven't had many Carton beers but all of them have been frigging delicious and unique. Chalk down another one.

Look: This pours a hazy gold with a slightly off-white head. Minimal, slick legging.
Smell: Tropical fruit with a hint of heat.
Taste: After my first sip, I was immediately reminded me of Port Brewing Anniversary Ale. Except, not as strong. No fumes out of the nose with this one. Plus it has a sweeter finish. The taste is of hops, tangerine, and tropical fruit.
Feel: It fits!

Overall - This is a big surprise coming all the way from the East Coast. This is definitely classic left coast style. Made with love, plus points for overall goodness. Make it juicier. I like it, and it's great.

From a can, pours a clear gold with a nice white foam head. Tastes of lots of citrus with a nice piney hoppy finish. Definitely let's you know your drinking a nice dipa with the hop profile. Personally, I think the carbonation is just right. Overall, O Dub makes me proud to live in NJ. World class.

Thanks to Bilco for the can.

Appearance: Slight chill haze on a bright hay gold. Head is white and creamy. Dense cap. Decent retention leaves a small dense cap for the duration. Sheets of lacing. Moderate carbonation on the pour.

Smell: Tangerine, mango, peach, lots of tropical fruit. Mango. Malts are slightly bready with some undercooked biscuit. Crackery snap coupled with some pale malt sweetness. White bread crust. Slightly toasted. Some caramelized malt sweetness. Some alcohol spiciness. A big push of oily pine needle and resin. A touch of mint. Massively hoppy but the malts offer a nice balance. Grapefruit. Warming blends it all together just a bit better.

Taste: Snaps bitter up front. Solid bright fruitiness comes right after. Deeply tropical. Peach, mango, tangerine, grapefruit, and papaya. Malts offer up a slight toasted element with a touch of caramelized sweetness. Pine needle and a ouch of resin. Some aspirin bitterness. A touch of woody mint. Some toasted white bread crust with some biscuit dough thrown in for good measure. Alcohol creeps through the back and builds as it warms. A touch of heat on the back with some associated spiciness. Slightly herbal.

Mouthfeel: Slick medium body with some slight creaminess. Slightly sticky. Moderate carbonation. Some astringency which is expected given the alcohol.

Overall: My new favorite thing from Jersey.

A big but not too big DIPA. Solid malt body that enhances the hop profile and works well overall. Bitter in good measure. Balanced or at least as much as something this big is able.

From a can, pours a mostly clear golden color with a fluffy soft white head.

The smell is very clean and straight forward. It is dominated by tropical fruit, citrus rinds, a little pine and just a touch of resin. The flavor is almost identical. Man this is clean and very well done. Lots of tropical fruit, citrus rinds, earthy pine hops and resin, with just a touch of caramel malt and candied sugar to bring it all together. The finish is crisp, just a touch of citrus bitterness.

This is delicious. Drink it when you can.

Solid double. Getting so many different flavors on pallet as I drink through this. Sometimes it's really tropical. Sometimes really bitter and sometime malty sweet. Solid double IPA all around. Thanks Chris, solid extra!

Not a bad IPA. Received this on a trade. Thanks man!

Appearance: Light hazy golden color. Some clarity on this one and a nice foamy white head sticks around for the duration of the pour.

Aroma: Somewhat resinous, Some fruity notes but not really strong in that regard. This is a somewhat floral IPA.

Taste: At first it might have been just me but it was pretty bitter, but as I drank through it changed and became very smooth. The balance opened up and it was a very pleasant tasting IPA. Nice tropical fruit notes, mango, pineapple and maybe some piney resin going on. The bitterness hits you on the back of the tongue and it is pretty smooth otherwise. This is a very tasty IPA.

Overall: I appreciate receiving this one on the trade it is very nice and well worth the high marks. If you get a chance seek this one out its solid for sure.

077XX has got the perfect look that one wants for an Imperial IPA- toasted orange with plenty of carbonation and great head retention. The aroma is very exciting and bright with bursts of zesty orange peel. In the flavor, it's evident that there is a formidable malt foundation, but that is felt more in the body than in the taste itself. We get more of a west coast style attack of bitter resinous hops front and center. It seems sweeter than what one might expect from this description though, it's certainly different and more complex than say, something like Palate Wrecker, and quite balanced as advertised. Overall, I would pit this against any top rated Double IPAs in the country! Score one for New Jersey Craft Beer! Carton, we are proud to have you making superb craft beer locally.

Big thanks to hugebulge for swinging by the brewery today and nabbing some cans and the companion teku.

a - brew pours a crisp transparent yellow orange with a generous frothy IPA head.

s - nose is stunning east coast IPA. Thick resinous citric with a tinge of alcohol heat on the back end.

t/m/o - boom. Spot on and easy drinking IPA. Great crisp citric hop presence. On the thinish side for such a big chewy beer which makes it dangerously easy to drink. Really worthwhile and fantastic beer. Check it out if you get a chance.

Been trying to find this one and got it at the Edison ale house in Newark. Overall a very sneaky brew. Don't know what the ibus are but very unassuming and very easy drinking for 7.85 percent. Really good but subtle at the same time. Would love to find this in cans. Good shit!

A: Slightly off-white head with moderate persistence. Brilliant cathedral window lacing that clings to the edge of the glass like glue. Mildly hazy coppper to tangerine orange color.

S: Huge hop aroma with strawberry, pineapple and tropical fruit punch like scents. Dank pine with grapefruit and mango are slightly less noticeable in strength. Mild maltyness that barely makes it through the hop assault. Overall very fruity (not esters, but hops) and pleasant.

T: Juicy, resinnous, evergreen, overripe mango, slight malty finish. strawberry, pineapple and thats just the beginning. Firm bitterness from the start with a clean finish. as the beer warms up the malty flavor becomes more apparent. Slight grassiness but very refreshing. Clean fermentation with no oxidation.

M: Sticky mouthfeel from all the resinous hops. Medium body with moderate carbonation levels. The body is bigger then the ultra dry west coast and I like that!

O: My second (and last) Carton beer given to me from my GF from her trip back east and I can’t wait to try another. Going into this beer I had no expectations and had never heard of it and it really impressed me with the refinement of the recipe. Huge pineapple, strawberry hop flavor with spot on mouthfeel and no harshness in the bittering department.

Very well done double ipa.
Look: Nice yellow golden color slightly hazy. Decent lacing and carbonation.
Smell: Citrus, floral, tropical all very pronounced, with slight pineyness.
Taste: Sweet, slight caramel, malty citrus flavors and a floral after note.
Feel: Full flavor, medium body, fills the palate.
Overall: Quality DIPA right there with some of the best.
