A: Hazy cloudy orange in color with a slight transparency, leaves about a two finger head at the top that goes away rather quickly and just leaves a ring around the top that turns into a nice lacing around the glass.
S: Hints of grapefruit and lemon zest, some small notes of honey as well, the pine and resin come through as well.
T: Almost exactly like the nose lots of citrus and grapefruit up front, nice hop kick in the beginning, a slight spice as well, and a sweet backbone.
M: Moderate amount of carbonation, slick, medium bodied.
O: Overall this is a great brew from Carton, this is a local brewery for me and proud that it comes from NJ, very well balanced beer and enjoyed it thoroughly. Great Flavors.

Appearance: very light yellow. Lightest APA I've seen
Smell: pleasant citrusy hops
Taste:,this is an amazing APA. I usually like a good malt base to balance out a strong hop flavor. In this case there less malt but the hops aren't over the top so they shine through in a perfect citrusy flavor.
Overall: this beer is total genius. Light, but hoppy, but not overpowering. Extremely refreshing and would pair well with a ton of foods. Fantastic anytime, but especially in the warm weather.

Carton BOAT Session Ale
16oz can, no date
Pours a hazy yellow with a greenish tinge. No head to speak of really. Spotty lacing. (2.5)
Aroma is hoppy and lemony, with a slight “dank” note. Possibly Amarillo? American hops all the way. Nice. (4)
First impression is of huge bitterness stuff for a 4.2% ABV brew. Earthy hop notes contrast the strong grapefruit note. Tastes like straight pilsner malt, maybe some wheat. Very dry. Could use more body. Finish is bitter and a touch grainy. (3, 3)
Aroma was great, but in the end, the beer drinks a bit unbalanced with the heavy bitterness and lack of malt backbone, though I don’t dislike it. A very firm session ale. (3.25)

A - Pours a glowing, very hazy straw color with a finger of dense bright white head. Great retention and fantastic lacing. 4.25
S - Light citrusy/seedy hops, a nice touch of grain, minimal underlying sweetness. A bit faint. 3.75
T - Surprisingly bitter up front, kind of like a leafy bitter, packs a distinguished punch at the finish. Light lemon and grapefruit rind, some serious burnt wheat characteristics. Sweetness doesnt shine past the wet bitterness at all. Finish is wet piney bitter. 4.5
M - Lighter bodied, less carbonation than expected but it works really well with the relatively intense flavor profile. 4.25
O -Fantastic, powerful flavor profile relative to the body. This is a great session if you want something with big flavor! 4.25

Huge thanks to egrace84 for a can of this beer!
16oz tallboy can.
poured into SP Wine Stem.
Appearance: pale straw yellow bodied beer with 2 fingers of tall white head that drops down to thin cap and spotty lacing.
Smell: Nice mix of citrus forward hops with a compliment of tropical fruits and stone fruits. Add in some bready malts in the back drop and you have a great smelling sessionable hoppy beer.
Taste: Mild bitterness. Starts with juicy grapefruit, bitter lemon zest, and sweet orange pulp, pineapples, slightly resinous pine needles, and a hint of chalk that actually adds some dryness to the beer. Really interesting dynamics here. Lots of flavor in this session ale. Hint of bready malts add just a touch of sweetness to balance the beer.
Mouthfeel: light bodied beer with low almost moderate carbonation. Really drinkable beer.
Overall: Glad that I got to try this! I like boating and I can now confirm that I like Carton's boat beer. Next, I gotta drink this beer out on the fishing boat on a hot day! Love that this beer is canned. Carlton makes a good beer. Its a little hoppier than I would have expected a session beer to be, but its not overly bitter. No complaints here with a beer that has 35 IBU's.
