Sun golden yellow in appearance with a slight orange hue about it.

Whoa!!!! This brew smells funky! There is no doubt in my mind at this point this is a wild ale. Explosive malt sweetness to the extreme.

Definitely not for me, very sour and dry. No hop presence whatsoever and that's what I'm into. I enjoyed this beer until I tasted it.

Mouthfeel is dry and sour.

Overall, wasn't expecting to be thrilled as I'm not a huge wild ale fan to begin with, but this is definitely not for me. Not awful, just not my cup of tea.

Cheers to Goblinmunkey7 for sharing this beer

Consumed 3/26/14

Appearance: Hazy orange gold - pours with a large, white head - fades to a nice cap, leaves some nice streaks and spots of lacing

Smell: Lots of Brett, as the name would imply - very funky with a load of straight-up, pungent Brett - some barnyard funk, with some dirt, and some light fruits - white grapes and some green apples - citrus in the background that mixes with the Brett in some weird ways - some other layers of funk that I can't quite describe

Taste: Pungent Brett and some citrus - very yeasty, with a ton of funk - some barnyard and wet, dirty basement - some fruity esters including green apple, white grapes, and lemon - some nice citrus notes including orange and grapefruit flesh, with some tropical notes - some pale and caramel malts at the base - finishes with more Brett and tartness

Mouthfeel: Medium body, nicely carbonated, nicely tart

Overall: Excellently executed

This smells funky, but I'm guessing it smells much better than a WWE locker room. I'm glad I had a chance to try this before (I'm guessing) Against the Grain receives a cease and desist letter. Regardless of the name, this is a good beer, with some nice funk and nice tartness.

Shared with a large group of individuals during a gaming night. This was the first brew of the evening and by far the one with the most character... in a bad way.

A- Looked fine. Nothing special to note either way.
S- OOOHHHH MAN! Seriously, this is one pungent brew. It smelled sort of like concentrated rotten lemons. The citrus was beyond overpowering and when combined with some of the other ingredients, it smelled extremely musty. We found the smell comical and made everyone smell the contents. Suffice to say, each reaction was priceless.
T- Overpoweringly citrus.
M- Nothing special to note here.
O- This beer could double as a gag gift and it is worth the cost just to watch your buddy's faces crumble as they smell it.

Poured from the bottle a bright and hazy orange-gold color with two fingers of off-white head No lacing with this one.

Aroma of green apple, lemon, wine grapes, and rich soil along with yeasty funk notes.

The taste was quite tart with lemon, wine grapes, green apple, and yeasty funk notes. The tartness lingers through the finish. The 8% abv comes through.

Medium bodied and somewhat dry with a moderate carbonation.

A very nice Wild Ale from Against the Grain.

Appearance: Hazy dark gold. Head is bright white and dense. Moderate head retention leaves a small cap with a slightly larger collar. Moderate retention on the pour.

Smell: Loaded with funky Brett. More funky than tart. A bit earthy with some hints of lemon zest and some lemon flesh. Hops run a bit floral with some apricot and a touch of mango. Pale malt sweetness. Some clean pale malts. A hint of mint. A bit of biscuit and cracker. Damp mustiness buried in the back.

Taste: Super funk. Damp and musty. Earthy with a bunch of floral elements. A hint of peach, mango, and fresh woody mint. Some mild lactic tartness. Sweeter than expected with a clean bright pale malt backbone. So much brett, but it's a bit young and unruly. A touch of lingering hop bitterness on the finish. Woody.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with a moderate carbonation. A bit juicy.

Overall: Better than Owen.

A unique beer. Fruity and hoppy and funky. I'd like to see what age does to it.

Pours a light golden-orange with a hazy clarity. Head is loose and white and dissipates into a consistent slick. Nose expresses a hint of brett and tangerines. Taste consistent with nose with a nice balance between the brett, citrus and light malt profile. Mouthfeel is light-medium (but closer to light) in body with a lively carbonation and some astringency. Overall, I'd classify this as more of a brett saison than an American Wild; however, regardless of style, it's quite good.

A: Hazy pale pastel yellow in color. Forms a moderate sized creamy white head. Little retention. Only light bits of lacing.

S: The strong scent of Brett. Wow this is one of the most Brett forward beers I've had. Notes of hay, tart pineapple, tropical fruit, bubble gum, unripe fruit, lighter citrus, lemon, and just an overall funkiness. Flat out pungent.

T: Well, the taste follows the scent. This one has a very strong Brett character. Lightly tart, but more than a little bit pungent. Mild sweetness. Floral, pineapple, lemon-lime soda, yeasty spice, unripe peaches, and just a hint of basement.

M: On the lighter side of medium. Lightly tart, like a lemon-sour candy. Mild pungency on the tongue. Dry on the back end. Very little bitterness.

O: Damn! This is one Brett (presumably Brett c) forward beer, especially considering this is supposed to be a Pale Ale "finished" with Brett. I've had 100% Brett fermented beers with less Brett character than this. Now all of that is not to say this is a bad beer, because it isn't, but how much you like this beer will be directly correlated to how much you like Brett.

Pours a fairly light, glowy yellow-orange color. Quite cloudy. Small to medium white head. Somewhat frothy. Dissipates relatively quickly. The aroma has tons of fruity brett flavor alongside a big, tangy citrus hop note. Clean, mouth-watering funk. There's a fairly light sourness to it. Particularly big on lemons with a little lime. Smells like mashed up lemons on a dusty farm. Grapes, apricots, peaches, pineapples, mangoes, honeysuckle. Very mild cheesiness and a bit of pale malt flavor, quite fresh. The taste is mildly sour, more tart than sour, really. Big on lemon. Lots of earthy, funky yeastiness. Finishes dry. Lots of really nice brett funk. Creamy, light feel. Full of flavor but not much booze or heat for 8% abv. Really, really good beer. I'm a big fan of the brett plus bright hop flavor profile, so this is right up my alley. I wish there were similar, easily accessible beers around. Unfortunately, they mostly seem to be limited or one-offs.
