Poured from the bottle a hazy orange-gold with one finger of white head. Very light lacing left behind.

Citrusy aroma of orange, tropical fruit and lemon zest with a touch of mustiness.

The taste matched the aroma. Citrusy with orange, lemon, and tropical fruit. Saltine cracker finish.

Medium bodied and clean with a fairly sharp carbonation.

I'm a big fan of citra hops, so of course, I really enjoyed this. My favorite beer from Against The Grain so far.

Serving Type: 650 mL bottle. Interesting art design on the bottle. Poured into a tulip glass.

A: Hazy, golden yellow body with a relatively thing white head (approx. 1/4"). Decent lacing, but nothing to write home about. Fairly prevalent debris profile throughout each pour. The appearance of this DIPA is about what you would expect of your average unfiltered DIPA.

S: The smell of the Citra hops is noticeable. The aroma is certainly built around a citrus profile, notably grapefruit and lemon. Some spicy smells break through a bit which resemble coriander and peppercorn.

T: The flavor profile follows the smell adequately. There is an initial citrus profile that is dampened with some faint bitterness, creating an appetizing balance. This initial profile is followed by a fresh and piney combination of flavors; hints of coriander, Citra hops, orange, lemon zest, grapefruit, and caramel malt dominate. The flavor profile is finished with a sharp, boozy bitterness that takes away from the freshness of the beer. The after-taste is significantly more pleasant as it leaves a certain fruitiness for around 20 seconds.

M: Medium body with pretty good carbonation that doesn't take away from the flavor of the beer.

O: Overall, it's a pretty good DIPA that definitely leans toward the bitter side of the style. Unfortunately, the bitterness took away from the freshness of the flavor profile and compared to other DIPAs, there wasn't anything "spectacular" about this beer. If it weren't for the extremely steep $15/bottle pricetag, I'd be inclined to buy this beer down the road. For what it is worth, I do recommend this beer to those who are just getting into DIPAs as it resides in one of those "is it too bitter or not?" grey areas (for the record: I do enjoy some of the more bitter DIPAs).

a grossly underwhelming beer, especially at 15 bucks a bottle, thats offensive, and like the brutal prices on the other stuff from against the grain that recently came to colorado, its a brutal quality to price ratio, and i cant imagine them making any splashes in this market with this stuff at these prices. citra is such a fun hop, so distinct and lemony and tropical and loaded with all the stuff we love about hops, but this yeast thick hazy orange beer is weighty with grain overbalance, and seems to have a lot more bitterness (read early kettle hops) than it does aromatic or juiciness (thats dry hopping usually). a seemingly sloppy effort made to appeal to the high end beer drinker, this cant pass at that level. its fine ipa, good even by some standards, but at that price we expect miracles. pliny for heavens sake is only five or six bucks a bottle, tis is downright unreasonable. thick in feel even though the bubbles are fine, way more leftover yeast than is necessary, and the bitterness of the hops overrides any unique citra features. not real happy with this one, hopefully others thought more highly of it.

-from notes
Poured at the Forecastle Music Festival in Louisville into a plastic cup...

Nice orange pour with a thin head that slowly fades away to some light lacing.

The aroma features citrus and pineapple and maybe a little biscuit.

The taste is citrus right up front, a little hit of pineapple as well followed by a dry finish that is slightly piney. As it warms, I also get a little of the sweet malt. But it's mostly OJ with a kick.

Mouthfeel seems medium with a slightly sticky aftertaste.

All in all, really glad I got to try this very tasty beer. Would happily drink it again.

22 oz bottle. Pours very hazy golden yellow with a big rocky white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is biscuity malts and sweet fruity, piney hops.

The flavor is biscuity malts and some fruit with bitter grassy piney hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with some sharp carbonation.

Overall, a decent DIPA, but way overpriced at 16 bucks a bomber.

A - Poured copper orange without much of a head.
S - A funky citra hop aroma
T - The taste is tropical and has some fruit elements
M - Medium body with a bit of a mild bitter aftertaste.
O - Its a juicy brew, I think citra centered brews are an acquired taste.
