Notes/Commercial Description:
This is a very hop forward American style IPA. Brewed with Pale, Vienna, Munich and wheat malt for a solid base for all American hops, focusing mainly on the variety “Citra.” Citra hops are a relatively new variety introduced in 2008. It was bred as a hybrid of a number of different hops, including Hallertauer Mittelfrüh, U.S. Tettnanger, East Kent Golding, Bavarian, Brewers Gold, and other unknown hops. The resulting hop, Citra, has a distinct citrusy and tropical fruit flavor and aroma. In Citra ass down we used American Columbus for bittering and 11# of Citra at the end of the boil for late kettle addition flavor and aroma. Then we added 6 more pounds Citra and 5# Centennial post fermention for aroma. Rebrewed for your tasting pleasure!

Poured from the bottle a hazy orange-gold with one finger of white head. Very light lacing left behind.

Citrusy aroma of orange, tropical fruit and lemon zest with a touch of mustiness.

The taste matched the aroma. Citrusy with orange, lemon, and tropical fruit. Saltine cracker finish.

Medium bodied and clean with a fairly sharp carbonation.

I'm a big fan of citra hops, so of course, I really enjoyed this. My favorite beer from Against The Grain so far.

Poured at the Forecastle Music Festival in Louisville into a plastic cup...

Nice orange pour with a thin head that slowly fades away to some light lacing.

The aroma features citrus and pineapple and maybe a little biscuit.

The taste is citrus right up front, a little hit of pineapple as well followed by a dry finish that is slightly piney. As it warms, I also get a little of the sweet malt. But it's mostly OJ with a kick.

Mouthfeel seems medium with a slightly sticky aftertaste.

All in all, really glad I got to try this very tasty beer. Would happily drink it again.

22 oz bottle. Pours very hazy golden yellow with a big rocky white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is biscuity malts and sweet fruity, piney hops.

The flavor is biscuity malts and some fruit with bitter grassy piney hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with some sharp carbonation.

Overall, a decent DIPA, but way overpriced at 16 bucks a bomber.

Love the name and label. Citra Ass Down poured cloudy golden with floaties that carried a white head with spotty lacing. The scent had pine and grapefruit citrus common to the Citra hop. The taste was a well balanced DIPA with sweet malt and the fresh hops that provided touches of pine and citrus. The mouthfeel was fuller in body with smooth carbonation. Overall this was a good DIP and well worth the try.

Contracted brewed by Stillwater I'm guessing in Maryland...

Pours a hazed peach color with minimum head. Average head retention & nice lacing

S: Loads of citrus & tropical fruits, they fade after a while. Probably the biggest drawback on this beer

T: Grapefruit, a little lemon grass, & some pine, plus chalky dryness up front. More grapefruit, lemons & pineyness & a little woody hops, some boozey bite & just a little breadyness as this warms. Finishes with grapefruit, slight acidity, dryness & woody hops

MF: Medium bodied, firm carbonation. Gets a bit prickly as it warms.

Doesn't drink to the ABV or the style, but is well worth a go. Not life changing, but would love to revisit this..
