Poured dark brown, almost black, body with minimal head and lace patches. Both roasted and milk-like aromas greet my nose as I smell and then same flavors greet my tongue as I drink. I found the beer to be medium-bodied, smooth, even silky, with good balance as the roasted malts are in the background and the beer has a light, not overpowering, milk and milk chocolate like sweetness. With the sweetness being the major taste sensation, not to minimize the other tastes, this might not be a beer for everyone but I really enjoyed it as it pleased my sweet tooth.

A: Very dark brown or black in color. Not quite fully opaque as there is a little bit of light that comes through around the edges. Forms a moderate sized deep beige colored head. Weak retention as it falls to a very thin surface coating. Light lacing.

S: Aroma is all about the dark malts. Chocolate, heavily roasted malts, char, and a very mild sweetness.

T: Taste is likewise maltly. Light sweetness. Creamy chocolate, dark malts, slight smokiness, and cocoa.

M: On the heavier side of medium, but just a touch thin for what I was expecting. Mild bitterness. Slight chalkiness. Easy carbonation.

O: An enjoyable brew. True to style and easy drinking.

Poured into a glass, produced a huge 3-4 fingers of an off white khaki head. Smell up front is smokiness, chocolate, roasted malt and milk sugar sweetness that usually accompanies a milk stout. Taste up front is all smoke. then it starts to mellow out into a nice flavored classic milk stout. Mouth feel was silky smooth, slight carbonation. I'm not sure if this was intended to be a smoked milk stout, but that s the impression I get. Along the lines of there Bo & Luke, only creamier and not barrel aged.

Pours mahogany with a thumb of caramel colored head. Good lacing & average head retention

S: Carob, cocoa & coffee

T: Baker's chocolate, coffee & bit of charred grain & woody hops up front, some lactic twang up front. Cocoa notes & charred grain as this warms, a little bit of caramel as well, just a hint of smokeyness as well. Finishes with a bit of mocha, a little dry & nice coffee notes

MF: Medium bodied, firm carbonation, turns creamy as this warms

Easy to drink, an interesting take on the style. Best beer I've had from Kentucky, so far
