``Leftovers'' from an Against the Grain tasting at Party Town in Florence, KY. Poured from my growler into a Founders snifter. It pours out black with just a hint of light escaping through the edges, and sports a thin brown lacing on top. The nose is heaven - vanilla, sweet cream, chocolate, and a healthy dose of bourbon.
Full body with tons of rich, sweet flavors. Who needs ice cream and cake with this stuff around? Up front are lots of rich, creamy, toffee-like flavors. Then comes bourbon, oak, vanilla, milk chocolate, more toffee, even some hazelnut for good measure. If this stuff had even a whiff of coffee-like bitterness, I might just blow a load in my pants. I don't know how these guys made this stuff. It's like they captured all the great flavors and character of bourbon, but there's no alcohol burn or heat at all, just enough warmth on the finish to enrich the flavor. I can't believe this stuff is 13% ABV. It's so damn drinkable, it's frightening. Sticky-sweet chocolate, candied flavor lingers on the finish.
Confession time - I have a major sweet tooth. Therefore, to me, this is simply Heaven in a glass! The rich, malty flavors and milky sweetness inherent to this style perfectly suit bourbon barrel aging. In my opinion, this beer can hold its own flavor-wise with just about anything out there. KBS, BCBS, whatever. BRING IT ON BABY! This stuff will pass the ``Pepsi Challenge'' with anything you want to pit it against. I predict it won't be a secret for much longer.
Postscript - I also had a chance to try a coconut version of this. It too is seriously good!

On tap at Pin's.
5.5oz. pour into a Pin's mini-snifter. Solid black pour, with a small dark brown head that settled to a ringlet and head there, leaving dots of lacing and a few oily legs on the glass. Nice aroma of dark roasty malts and sweet fudge, some boozy fumes. The taste was a bit of a let-down after what the nose promised, but it was still good. Dark malts, a fair amount of roast, toasted oak, semi-sweet chocolate, coconut, and a booziness ever present in the background, coming out more as it warmed. Unfortunately the bourbon wasn't too pronounced, and it came off more solvent-like than anything. The body was medium, maybe edging on medium-full, but it felt like the booze thinned it out a bit, keeping it from being a smooth sipper, though it definitely improved after sitting a few minutes at room temp. Overall a solid BA stout, though needing some work. I'd still like to try it again.

On tap at smoke and barrel.
Has a great first impression - dark upon dark with slight lacing. Aroma is very boozy/bourbon with some vanilla oak mixed with roastiness. Smell absolutely delicious/intoxicating. Taste is an explosion of vanilla bourbon milk chocolate sweetness. This is certainly close to BCBS and needs to be bottled in high quantities immediately.
