A: Pours a clear, pale gold with a thin, creamy white head that eventually settles into a thin ring of white lace. The appearance is pretty standard for a cream ale, but the head retention and lacing is a bit better than average for this style.

S: Aromas of straw, biscuit, minerals, lemon, lime, grapefruit, pine, spruce, and juniper berry wallop the nose before the expected corn scent makes itself known. Very complex, intense, and hop-forward for the style.

T: Much like the nose, the hop notes absolutely throttle the palate with flavors of lemon rind, lime, kumquat, grass, herbs, pine, spruce, juniper berry, and grapefruit underscored by notes of biscuits, crackers, minerals, and straw. The finish is clipped and very dry with herbal, citrusy hop notes balanced by mineral, biscuit, and flaked corn flavors.

M: Light in body and dry. Carbonation is crisp and fairly intense. Very drinkable on a hot day.

O: An interesting effort to be sure. I'm not certain I've ever had a hoppy cream ale before, but I like the idea. In terms of execution, the taste is a little muddy, with the corn flavor not really merging with the hops at all, but fortunately the nice balance of malt and hop flavors makes up for this deficiency to a point. Worth a try on a hot day.
