Ciucas has a thick, spongy, white head, a clear, bubbly, straw appearance, and some ragged lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of sweet biscuit and a shade of grass, and the flavor is of sweet grain and some mildly bitter, grassy hops. Mouthfeel is on the light side, and Ciucas finishes crisp, refreshing, and tasty.

Gold color almost transparent, like almost all the beer brewery. Slightly lemony nose with a slightly metallic. Mouth with bitterness (but without much flavor) that enters directly and immediately. It lasts so spicy but with lots of light. A nice beer but without much pretension.

Light colour with medium carbonation. A decent head that fades slowly and leaves some lacing.

The aroma is light. Slightly floral and grainy.

The taste is quite delicate. Pleasantly bitter and well balanced. Not a lot of depth to the flavour and no outstanding features but a hint of apple is present

Overall, an enjoyable light beer. It's made with corn ("porumb" in Romanian) so it's an adjunct lager. It is quite a good adjunct lager I would say. I might pick it up again if I wanted a low abv lager.

Got it from Romania.
A - Light orange pale color, medium carbonation, with few seconds lasting white foam.
S - Unpleasant skunky adjunct smell,a bit sweetness in it.
T/M - High carbonation, nothing unexpected for bad pale lager.
O - Pass it. Usual bad local cheap lager.

.5litre green aluminum can acquired at a Shop and Go supermarket in Bucharest. Reviewed live. Expectations are average; this is my first Romanian beer if I remember right. 4.60% ABV. 10.6 degrees plato. SAB Miller / Ursus Breweries. Best before: 08.12.14.

Served cold into a small generic bierkrug. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.

No bubble show forms as it's poured.

HEAD: 2.5 fingers wide. White in colour. Fluffy. Has a smooth soft complexion. Retention is surprisingly good - about 8+ minutes. Leaves no lacing as it recedes.

BODY: Clear translucent yellow of average vibrance. Has a good colour to it, and doesn't look artificially copper-y like many discount supermarket lagers. Clean; no yeast particulate or hop sediment is visible.

Overall, its a standard appearance for a beer in this style. There are no obvious egregious flaws. I'm optimistic.

AROMA: It's a surprisingly soft, perfumey, and wet aroma. Clean crisp soft barley. Helles malts. Pils malts. Pleasant floral hop character. Maybe even some white pepper...wow, this is surprisingly intriguing for a macrobrewed supermarket lager.

Aside from some potentially overly prominent malty sweetness, I don't find any concerning off-notes or issues. Maybe there's some corn adjunct, but overall this is generally appealing.

No yeast character or alcohol is detectable.

This aroma is average in strength overall.

TASTE: Mellow. The helles malts and pilsner malts are very gentle, and complement the simple clean barley core of the beer nicely, though they do shift the balance a bit too far towards the sweet end of the bitter/sweet spectrum. Still, there is some noticeable balancing floral hop character, which helps even things out with a bit of bitterness. As it warms, I also pick up on a faint hint of red apple/apple skin - which is a lovely and dareisay nuanced touch.

Sadly, the white pepper I picked up on in the aroma is not present here.

It's absolutely a simple beer, but the balance is superior to most brews in this market category. Don't expect much complexity/intricacy or subtlety, but do expect a likably plain flavour profile with no artificial malt extract notes or metallic off-notes to conceal.

TEXTURE: Soft, smooth, wet, light bodied, refreshing, and approachable. This beer has a good overall presence on the palate, and the texture fits in with the overall light refreshing vibe of the overall beer and its gentle flavours. It's actually not overcarbonated, which is surprising, and it isn't biting or sharp on the palate like many macrobrewed supermarket lagers.

Not oily, gushed, hot, boozy, astringent, harsh, rough, or scratchy.

OVERALL: Highly drinkable and very approachable stuff. This is definitely preferable to the vast majority of macrobrewery lagers I've tried, and is worth picking up in Romania if you want a nice table beer or something to pair with food. It won't impress the discerning drinker, but it's uncommonly quality for a beer at this price point. I'd get it on-draught at a restaurant.

Golden, clean appearance, with a good white foam. Not a bad appearance at all.
But after that, the smell: in spite of the frozen glass, some stale malt, with light not of a not too fresh hoppiness.
Same for the taste, it is a normal macro lager. Malt, cereal.
No big defects, ok, but completely useless.
