Pours a clear straw, just under 1 finger head that quickly dissipates to a ring. Smells slightly sour. Tastes exactly like what I remember a Heinekin to be like. Noticeable hops compared to other beers I've tried in Italy. No alcohol presence. Drinkable, but not good. Definitely not an ale or bock, just a slightly more complex adjunct lager.

Clear golden body with a huge white head. Smells strongly of euro malt with a hint of citrus, surprisingly bland. Taste is the same but skunky and watery. It hides the 8% well though, got to give it that, as the body is malty and thin, but smooth in delivery without any skunkiness. Not worth seeking out

Very interesting brew! Drinks incredibly light, almost feels like I'm drinking a pilsner. There's definitely a sweet honey flavor in the finish, but aside from that it's a great hoppy medium bodied beer. I really appreciate the complete lack of boozines from something that's almost 8%! Well done.

Had this while visiting Italy in September 2023. This brew was a pretty bland experience as it was advertised as a doppelbock but was actually a strong ale that offered nothing special flavor wise. Would not have again.

Ceres Bryggeri stopped brewing in 2008, but some of their beers are continued as a trade mark by Royal Unibrew (formerly Bryggerigruppen). July 2002, as Royal Selection (also sampled as Ceres Dansk Dortmunder) : Is this a bock?? I don't think so! Anyway, it's a good strong lager, carries its high ABV well. Good head, pleasant aroma, powerful flavour. Beats Carlsberg's Elephant beer. But a Royal selection?? Oh well, I've never been a monarchist anyway...

After reading all the incorrect and unjust reviews on this beer I had to create an account and leave my review. I travel multiple times per week around the world, and I always try local beers. CERES, is one of the few BEST TASTING BEERS IN THE WORLD. It has a slight grape note.

From can in Predazzo, Italy. Simply quite unremarkable and inoffensive. Its strong. And thats honestly the only thing it has going for it. Great one for "just a beer". Nothing more really.

Bottle at a cafe in Bagnaia, Italy after walk to Villa Lante. Alright, strength gives it a bit of flavor.

I tried this beer when I arrived in Rome a few days ago. Poured from a green 11.2 oz. bottle. Has a dark golden color with a 1 inch head. Smell is of malts, little else. Taste is of bready malts, a touch of grains, alcohol is present. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall it aint bad, but nothing to get excited about either.

Why call it an ale?
An obvious strong lager...and strong is the only reasons it has undeserving ratings
