Appearance from a 16 oz. can pours a dark amber supporting a thin but healthy head that dissipates leaving spotty lace. Smell is rich in malt with a nice balance of the hops with a nice light fruitiness. Taste focuses on the malt with a higher hop flavor, but not overpowering, having a light fruitiness. Mouthfeel is medium with good carbonation. Although a bit higher in the hops, it's not overpowering still making for a nice amber ale.

Not to many Amber Ales are this full of taste, at least the ones I have tried anyway. I have tries all of Hilliards beers and this is their best one I think. There is something very High Tech about all their brews though, not your conventional Craft Style beers. These are all very fresh and crisp tasting. I have no way of knowing this but it seems like a group of dudes from Google, Microsoft, and or Amazon got together to start a brewery...you know very techy, kind of sterile or something.

can sent by dirtylou from the brewery

a: can into a hilliards can glass, the beer is an unfiltered hazy amber brown in color, capped with a layer of khaki carbonation, average retention

s: nicely malted - toasted sugars, pleasant bready yeast, browned loaves, woody/herbal hops

m: carbonation ranging around the low end of moderate, body around medium

t: amber malt brings early toasty sugars and browned bread, some yeast, mild woody or dried herb hop flavor with a delicate balancing bitterness

o: a tasty amber with a nice range of character, best enjoyed in proximity to a glacier

A : Poured a lightly clouded reddish amber with a nice tan cap. Moderate head retention leaves standing bubbles, light lacing after a sip or few.

S : I felt the nose was rather mute. Some biscuits, herbal notes, grass and pine.

T : Sordove of full biscuity presence upfront with a unique yet pungent hop kick or twang, some pine, sordove Earthy, sordove something different for this style. A good dose of bittering on this one as well. The finish is somewhat satisfying I suppose but the blend of vegal, biscuit, pine, grass and hint of caramel just threw me off. While the taste is not what I wanted I can't say it was a bad beer.

M: Medium bodied, biscuits, Eartht, hops and bitterness sordove linger and cling onto the mouth. Well carbonated, no major issues here.

O: Not my "sort" of amber, I like fuller, sweeter and less hop forward I suppose. Perhaps it was the choice of hops that did me in. Not a bad beer but not among my favorites for the style.

Can into pint glass

A- Amber colored, reddish dark translucent hue. Big yellowy white head to trap in the volatiles.

S- Some cedar and some toasty bread malts. Not super strong smelling; hope are present in the background.

T- Very typical amber taste. Some bitterness but mostly smoky grain malts and fresh grains. Some "redness" (my palate is not yet refined enough to know what to call these notes.) Leaves a slightly sour aftertaste. Less sweet than most brews of this style.

M- Medium carbonation. The malts don't overpower, and definitely don't leave a mark on the mouth. The aftertaste is pleasant.

D- This is an amber that can be downed by the 6-pack, if that's your fancy. I prefer a heavier, fuller tasting amber ale, even if it means I'm only having one.

This beer stays true to the style, but it's somewhat cheaply made. The corners cut in the brewing process show up via the nose and tongue. As someone who prefers ales to lagers, I'd say this is a solid party beer if the need to buy tons of cans arises. I recommend this to accompany a winter vegetarian dinner or something gamey.

Another one I received from Lordkrystic, seriously this box never ends...

Poured from can to pint glass.

A - a very nice orangish brown , I'd hate to call it amber, but its pretty close, a bit on the lighter side though, nice thick head that dissipates to a thin layer of bubbles

S - very biscuit, toffee , some nut brown ale reminiscent smells, with a grassy lemon/pine hop mingled in

T - Big in the malts, very much like the smell, the sweet biscuit malt comes through with the lemon grass hope bitterness near the middle to end of the taste, it finishes clean with only slight lingering bitterness

O - Not bad at all, its a very clean clear tasting beer with a high drinkability, its slightly more hoppy than most Amber/Red ales but pulls it off very well, If it was available I'd likely keep a few around

Thanks to 5000 for sending this can my way.

The beer pours an amber color with a large, off-white head. The aroma is fairly straightforward with a lot of biscuit and toffee notes. The flavor is very similar. There is a lot of sweet toffee and caramel, as well as a little bit of bitterness from the grassy hops. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

16oz can purchased for $2.59 at Main Market Co-Op in Spokane. I’ve seen beers from this brewery nowhere else.

Pours a dark, iced tea-like color that takes on a very dark amber shade when held up to light. Big, big, creamy beige head that took it’s time dropping.

The nose is one of mild, biscuity malts and a little bit of earthy grain. There’s also a wee bit of herbal hop scent.

The taste starts out with the mild malts, then there’s a tea-like herbal hop flavor, with a mildly dry fadeout. Not a flavor bomb but decent enough.

Medium bodied, with a moderate amount of carbonation, about right for the style.

Not a terribly interesting beer, but not a bad one either. The worst you can say is that it’s a bit bland. I could drink several of these if there was nothing more interesting available.
