Appearance: Kallholmen Levande Ale is presented in a darker shade of translucent amber along with a thick cream white crown and a rich amount of carbonation. Continually, the crown slowly dissipates, eventually leaving plenty of lacing alongside the glass.
Smell: Floral notes, peaches, maybe apricot, cream and vanilla along with a hint of passion fruit. Overall a really fresh character.
Taste: A durable vanilla sweetness that overlap an upfront and grapefruit-like bitterness that intertwines with notes of sour peaches. The floral notes does lurk in the background and fades rather quickly mid-tasting.
Moreover, we get sublte notes of caramel sweetness with a backing of the aforementioned vanilla. Thereafter the bitterness makes a triumphant return and enshrouds whatever remnants of sweetness there was and lingers on for quite some time, like a beast resting and digesting its latest prey.
Mouthfeel: Creamy, but somewhat thin in the body, alert carbonation.
Overall: Thoroughly constructed with lots of interesting aspects which resonated in a complementary fashion. Maybe a more robust body, but other than that it's well worth a try or two (or three!) since it's a properly crafted brew.

A: Pours copper with a white head that sets into decent lacings.
S: Sour; is this a bad bottle? I can sence the floral hops and the caramell malt. Some fruit as well. Kind of American in a mild sence.
T: Follows the nose - the sourness makes me doubt that this is how the brewer intended it to taste. Anyways; the sweetness is stronger in taste compared to smell. The "American-ness" of the hops is more noticable; pineapple and grapefruit.
M: Aftertaste holds the same sourness, but also nice bitterness. Body is medium while carbonation is quite strong.
O: Well; if this was how the brewer inteneded it to be; sour in a unpleasant way (my opinion) not worth the money - but if I sampled a bad bottle - I'll give it another try...
Yet again; the other beer on BA from Kallholmen I have reviewed was not very exciting - I still wait for a nice sample from Kallholmen...
