Type: 16-oz. can
Glass: Firestone pint glass
From: Bine & Vine Bottle Shop in Normal Heights (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $3.99
Purchased: Jan. 29, 2014
Consumed: Feb. 1, 2014
Misc.: Canned on Nov. 12, 2013

Poured a honey orange mostly clear color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy khaki-white head. Above average-to-good amount of semi-layered lacing along the sides of the glass. Good retention on the top all the way down.

Smelled sharp bitter citrus hops right away. Also grapefruit, wet Cascade hops, orange rind, pine, floral hops, caramel, lime and tangerine. Very nice on the nose.

Tasted like a toned-down version of the smell. Got citrus hops, grapefruit, caramel, grapefruit rind, orange, tangerine, floral hops, tropical hops, resin hops and pine. Very bitter.

Light-to-medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Long, bitter finish.

A very good double IPA. I would definitely try some more. (907 characters)

quick note: whatever happened to writing up a full review on BA? Hopefully this is a little more comprehensive than the other reviews:
Appearance: light golden/orange with 1 finger head

Aroma: slight orangey hops, malts and alcohol heat also present

Taste: hoppy on the front end but not overly bitter. Nice malty backbone however the alcohol is slightly noticeable but given that it's 9.4% it's still very drinkable. A great tasting DIPA.

Light-to-medium body. Average carbonation.

A nice DIPA - surprisingly light yet also nice and hoppy. I would buy this again. (574 characters)

Appearance-Amber with eggshell foam out of a 16 ounce can.

Smell-Grass, Strawberries, Raspberries, Bitters.

Taste-Follows the nose with a light cream on the end palate. Sort of like a strawberry creamsicle.

Mouthfeel-Nice weight for an IPA. Heavy but not overwhelming. Finish is a good length.

Overall-I wasn't expecting much but I think this is my favorite I've had from Golden Road. I love the shift to a light mouthfeel on the finish. Nicely done. (454 characters)

Christmas Day and a Better Weather IPA.

Pleasantly surprised on this one, my peeps. A decent amount of juice, the bitterness was ripe like a guava picked from the equater... Hell, Raul is diggin' this like the government is digging into your pension!

I wouldn't exactly say that I am "feelin" in, but I'm into it well enough. (327 characters)

Fairly heavy and malty mouthfeel. Resinous hop profile that doesn't impress much. Not bad, somewhat generic. (108 characters)

On-tap at Rock & Brews, El Segundo, CA

A: The beer is slightly hazy light amber in color and has no visible carbonation. It poured with a thin white head that died down and left a bit of lacing on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of citrusy hops—oranges seem to stand out in particular—are present in the nose along with notes of pine resin hops.
T: The taste is similar to the smell but the pine resin hops seem to stand out a little more in front of the citrusy hops. There is a moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a little crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I liked the contrasting citrusy and piney hops in the beer as the smell and taste seemed like mirror images of each other. (785 characters)

Sixteen ounce can dated 10-26-13.

A: Pours a clear orange with a solid 1.5-inch slightly off-white head which fades to a thin cap and yields spots and splotches of lace.

N: Citrus (mainly grapefruit) dominates here. Floral with some herbal and caramel malty notes.

T: Citrusy with some sweet caramel malts. Perhaps I should have checked the can date more closely.

M: Medium body and semi-full carbonation. Mildly bitter and dry finish. ABV is noted but fairly well hidden.

O: A good and balanced Impy IPA. (510 characters)
