Had on tap at the brewery 11/30
Served in a pint glass

A: This beer pours a hazy golden color with a one finger of white sudsy head. Head recedes at a moderate pace leaving wisps of lacing on the glass.

S: Nose ismajor piney hops, earthy tones and a touch of citrus.

T: Taste is pine, pine, pine all up in the forefront. Grassiness with a mingle of more breadiness come in and quell the pine flavoring. The finish is a nice, balanced grapefruit citrus flavoring.

M: Medium body, medium carbonation, oily body.

O: Goes down easy, not too filling, nice kick, very nice representation of style. I'd never heard of this brewery - went for a visit in LA and a friend who knew my affinity for craft beer made sure it was on my radar. I wasn't disappointed.

I poured it from a can in to a perfect pint glass. It was a nice deep yellow with a thin head that went quickly. I really like the flavor profile the hops are nicely balanced with the malt creating a nice citrusy beverage that is not off putting to newbies of the style.

With that out of the way this is a session IPA. The ABV is relitively low in comparison to say a Stone IPA. The hops play better with the malts. A True California IPA it is not but for a beer that bridges the gap for hardcore beer drinkers and new craft enthusiasts this is up there with the best. To attest the drinkability of it I bought a 4 pack of pint cans and easily drank them in about 2 hours. To top it off I had my wife try some and she even liked it . I say give it a try I will again.

Imbibed at Gden Road Brewery on 11/4/12.

Pours a very clear amber, almost copper metallic color with a thin layer of white head. Not much lacing to speak of. The nose starts with lots of grapefruit, lemon, and light citrus notes. I get a little bit of almond nuttiness in the malt but not much else. What it lacks in depth it makes up for in brute force. Taste starts somewhat nutty with wheat bread flavors. The hops are soapy and aggressively bitter, especially for the amount of malt in it. It's grassy and reminiscent of summer in a bright flavor kind of way. Feel is balanced, finish somewhat dry.

This is a really solid IPA. It has a lot of the bitterness and hop aroma & flavor that imperial IPAs have, with a fraction of the malt to counter it. Really impressive.

A - Pours a clear amber-orange with a finger of frothy white head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some lacing.

S - Aroma is a mix of grapefruit, citrus, grassy, and pine hops with some sweet caramel malts.

T - Starts off with a mix of grapefruit, orange, and citrus hops with some bitterness and some sweet caramel malts. Through the middle, the pine and grassy hops come through with some more resiny bitterness and a bit of bready malts. The finish is a mix of grapefruit and piney hops with some resiny bitterness and some sweet caramel malts.

M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a dry and bitter finish.

D - Very drinkable. Nice resiny hop profile and good bitterness.

Huge foam-up in the Stella glass. Like whipped cream, every pour. Nice flowery hop aroma. Light bodied.

A little bready flavor with some sweetness. Slightly resiny. Some earthy taste, but just enough to be interesting. Rather bitter as you sip, and seems to intensify at the finish. Not in hop overdose style, and more of a session beer. A touch of plastic, or maybe buckwheat in the aftertaste. Tastes almost like there is some rye in the brew.

I might like it better if it was just a little cleaner and crisper, but this seems to follow a mellower path. A worthy gulp, beery and drinkable enough. From the 16 oz can.

The beer is amber in color with an off-white head. Starts off with spicy, grassy, and citrus peel hops. There is some bread, very mild pineapple, and a bit of caramel. The flavor is a bit on the sweet side, but not overly so. Hop notes are grass, floral, and mild citrus, mostly citrus peel. Caramel and toffee malt flavors with just a hint of sweet fruit. Not the hugest fan of this.

Appearance: Pours a clear goldenrod with a modest head that leaves a few splashes

Smell: Vaguely bready and vaguely hoppy; a rather grainy aroma

Taste: Bready, up front, with a bitter, grainy finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Rather unusual for a West Coast IPA as there is no citrus or floral character; the hops add bitterness but little flavor

Thanks, Madirish76, for the opportunity

Pours a bright and somewhat hazy gold color with a decent white head.

Aromas are of light citrus, slightly sweet malt grains, and some pine.

Taste is just like the nose. Light citrus, mostly grapefruit and lemon, some malty sweetness, and a crisp and dry finish.

Mouthfeel is crisp, with pretty good carbonation.

Overall a pretty good IPA. Kind of like an "IPA Light". Pretty good flavors, refreshing, and drinkable, but nothing overly special.

A: Hazy burnt orange color with a one finger tan head. Some subtle lacing down the glass.

S: Lots of juicy grapefruit hops, caramel malt, orange and a good deal of pine.

T: Definitely a very approachable IPA. A good balance of bready malts and peppery citrus hops with a lot of grapefruit. Towards the finish, I get a slightly off flavor of soaked bread, but it's replaced on the end with some grapefruit pith and a touch of aspirin.
