Got to try this at the opening night event on tap out of the Firestone trailer!!
A-ruddy brown, nice and hazy, with a very decent head that stuck around for a good while.
S-Had slight wisps of smoke with piny/floral/citric hopping
T-I was blown away that an 8%'er was drinking this smooth...the malt, hop and arbitrary smokiness mingled very very well, and was just too damn smooth for its (or my) own good.
M-Firm, but with a clean finish. Impressive.
O-I had a few of these. It was a great take on a "smoked IPA" which I had never tried before. I'm a huge rauch fan, and this was one of the better examples yet! Cheers to Meg, Ryan and all the brewers and cool staff at GR!

A: Great dark copper color
S: Smoke notes,pine, chocolate
T: very smokey, bitter and hoppy like all GR IPA's
M: Super fresh and carbonated, very crisp and clean mouthfeel
O: Golden Road produces some outstanding IPA's and this one is pretty unique. Beautiful can that matches the color of the beer.

Golden amber color in the New Belgium snifter. Tangy with a flavor that makes me think of a rye beer. The aroma is baffling at first, but the hint of smoke is nice mingled with the aromatic hops. Medium body with some sharp acidic IPA notes.
Malty and on the sweet side with the hint of barbecue. You can argue whether this is an IPA or a Rauchbier, but it's an interesting and totally drinkable brew. Definitely worth a try, especially at a reasonable price in the big cans. From the 16 oz can purchased for $3.19 at Bine & Vine in San Diego.
