Poured from the tap into a pint glass at the LAX airport.

The beer is true to the style - pure brown with just a bit of light coming through at the bottom. Murky/hazy. Head is light tan and dissipates somewhat quickly.

Smell is OK yet a bit faint. Some roasted notes and some bread come through.

Taste is somewhat watery but has some good bittersweet chocolate and roasted malt notes in there. Some bread as well, but rich roast character. Unfortunately, follows up with a somewhat astringent aftertaste, so not as smooth as I was hoping.

Somewhat interesting offering in an otherwise dull terminal beer-wise. Not complaining. Hit the spot on my layover.

Poured into a pint glass. Pours a dark reddish brown with a thin, light brown head that dissipates to thin patches. Aroma of bready and mildly toasted malt, nuts, hints of chocolate and oddly, alcohol. Flavor of brown bready malt, nuts, mild milk chocolate; finishing with malt, light chocolate and a hint of hops. Medium bodied. A pleasant, light brown ale with a good tasting malt body and light elements of nuts, and mild chocolate. Flavor is a bit on the light side, but has a good variety of flavors. An easy drinking light brown ale.

16 oz. can from Whole Foods. Nose is inviting with faint coffee caramel and yeast. Taste opens with earthy tones, a hint of chocolate and toasted brown bread. Somewhat malty, good carbonation and semi drying close. All in all, not earth shattering but a tasty, very drinkable and exemplary brown ale.

On-tap at Rock N' Fish at LA Live, another good looking local pint.
Pours clear dark brown with a light beige head. Foam settles to a thick film, streaky lace, good retention.
Smell of roast malt, a bit nutty, some cocoa and chocolate aromas.
Taste has all the same elements, roasted malt, toasted nuts, and some more dark chocolate. Finishes slightly bitter like a strong coffee.
Good level of carbonation, medium body.
Overall, this is a very good brown ale with some great flavors.

Now, just to find this one in a can

First thing I noticed was this smelled exactly like sesame oil. Good taste first off, but fades in seconds. Great session beer over all.

Can poured into a BarrelHouse Brewing Co pint glass

A: Pours deep mahogany brown with a frothy light brown head that settles.

S: Bready, roasted malt, a little coffee, a bit earthy with a hint of smoke.

T: Roasted malt, earthy and bready, mild coffee notes, faint chocolate, maybe a touch of dark fruit burried in there, and little smoke on the back end.

M: Medium body, moderate carbonation.

O: Solid roasty brown with a healthy amount of coffee. Not bad.
