A: Poured some into a glass and drank the rest from the can. The brew is a bright golden yellow, very clear with a white head that disappeared quickly. Carbonation is visible but light.

S: This is not a particularly aromatic brew but i could pick up some hops nonetheless. Sweet and fruity hops.

T: This beer goes down very easily and i found it rather delicious. This is a very refreshing IPA. It's hoppy but without being too resiny or excessively bitter. Reminded me more of an AMerican Pale aLe than an IPA definite hop characteristics but this is contrasting a relatively mellow malt backbone so nothing crazy going on. This is a pretty tame beer.

M: As I've mentioned it goes down easy and it's very refreshing. Also not too bitter but leaves just enough hop resin behind in the aftertaste to make you want another sip

O: I enjoyed this beer as something tasty to throw back but it is not particularly sophisticated and perhaps not worth the premium price but im digging that a portion of the proceeds go to Heal the Bay.

Pale straw yellow and a wallop of New Zealand hops is my short hand description. This beer has a gorgeous nose of citrus, bubblegum and love. It's a nose that a lot of these kiwi hopped beers have been chasing, but few have achieved. The taste is similar. If this beer had the back bone of Nelson, it would be a force to be reckoned with. Alas it doesn't, which is the only area it falls slightly behind.

That being said,I could crush cans of this in the California sunshine...and allegedly will get to come June.

Goldenroad's Drakesification has been a huuuge win for the home team

Visiting SoCal from up north & was very pleased to spot this one with a packaging date of two weeks ago. Love all of Golden Road's beers so far so super excited to try this one.

A - Clear & pale, with a lively effervescence.

S - Aroma is the highlight of this beer. Heavy on tropical fruit, citrus and some pine. It has that sweet & slightly earthy smell you often find in Russian River IPAs. In fact on the first whiff I was taken right back to Sonoma--very reminiscent of the younger. Also reminded me of New Belgium / Alpine "Super" IPA. Very delicate and must be had FRESH.

T - The flavor had some totally unexpected characteristics--very grassy & earthy. A bit vegetal and with a lingering onion-like twinge. I was blown away by how the flavor was belied by the aroma. I am not a fan of the grassy/dank side of IPAs and this element is pretty overpowering to my palate.

M - For the style, this IPA is a bit heavy on carbonation, which is something I love to see. Given the evident level of hopping in this beer, I would expect a heavier / stickier mouthfeel. The carbonation level and presumably high attenuation level (due to lack of caramel malts) give this beer a very pleasant dryness that beckons the next sip.

D - The high alcohol content onion quality will keep me from enjoying two of these back to back, but it is a very good IPA overall. This is definitely a beer nerd's IPA and should be tried if you can get your hands on some.
