Stop #376 on my world brewery tour.
Along with Three Floyds and New Albanian, this is one of the top three brewpubs in the state.
I grew up in Indianapolis when Irvington was a declining blue color area of the city. What a surprise to find this gem in the historic gentrified heart of a city within a city.
Plenty of parking around back. No food but they have a food truck out front with printed menus at the tables. About a third full during my visit on a Monday early evening. Mare sure to check hours before visiting.
Can see a tank or two from the back outside and across the bar. Probably qualifies as a nano brewery as the boil tank looked no bigger than 2 or 3 barrels.
Had a flight of all their beers plus 8 oz of the DIPA.
Blond, amber, 2 browns, porter, holiday spiced, and Russian imperial stout.
The amber, RIS, and DIPA were outstanding. I've been avoiding DIPA's lately as they're usually cloying, muddy, and too sweet. This was one of the best, well-attenuated DIPA's I've had - on level with Pliny from Russian River. Yeah, I said that.
The RIS was creamy, roasty, and delicious. Both of these high alcohol beers had no fermentation flaws in terms of detecting the alcohol or off flavors.
The only drawbacks I came up with was their guest tap list, while good, could have benefited from other great Indiana or regional beers. The server was friendly but when I asked a question or two about the beer, she didn't know and didn't bother asking one of the guys who kept coming around from the brewing area.
Highly recommended and they're on my Indy brewery rotation.

Best Brewpub in Irvington!
Keep in mind, this is a Beer bar first, and a food place second.
The food menu is short and to the point intentionally. The food selection, although limited to about a dozen awesome snacks, is of the highest possible quality.
On Sundays, they serve organic, locally grown, farm-fresh, dry-aged, sunnyside hip, baykahn schmammiches. NOM.
They offer plenty of guest beers as well as house brews. Great stuff.

Best micro in Indy IMO. Very small batch brewery, but beers are unique and all have been top notch. Very broad offering of styles, rotating guest taps, both Indy and outside IN micros. Best garlic mayo aioli I've ever had...pairs well with sweet potato fries. Staff is awesome. They even gave me the pilot recipe for their coffee IPA...which I will make at home soon.

A: Located in the Irvington section of Indy's east side, right off Washington St. Irvington is a very historic area of Indy, but over the last 40 years or so had fallen in to decline. Over the past 10 years this area has really come back, and it is great to see establishments such as Black Acre aiding in the economic resurgence. Neighborhood where Black Acre is has really been renovated and is a fine place during business hours.
Bar is modern and has a very metro/up-scale look, without the pretentious clientele or staff.
Q: Beer is of great quality and always fresh. Food is also of very good quality.
S: Service is excellent.
S: House and guest beers. Great variety.
F: Excellent sandwiches.
V: Everything is reasonably priced.

Probably my favorite place in Indy to have a beer or 3 with some friends(might be biased though since it's a 5 minute walk from my house. They always have about 10-12 quality guest taps with some harder to find stuff sprinkled in with regular favorites(like Old Rasputin on nitro, which they always seem to have). And their own brews have been some of the best locally that I've found. Food menu is limited, but really good sandwiches and brewery fries(especially the sweet potato). Highly recommend if you're in the Indianapolis area.
