Missed out on the Whiskey Barrel Aged Imperial Brown, but was very happy to catch this one on tap on the way home from the airport.

Pours a rich, rusty brown. Thin head, but exceptional color. Has notes of oak, red wine, peppery yeast and big sweet malts. Very well done. as are all their barrel aged beers. Medium to full body drinks very well and has a nice dry vinous finish.

A special tapping at B/B for the Colorado Beer Week. A strong Belgian ale aged in syrah barrels.

Pours a bright yet dark copper, soft foamy off- white head. lacing is just noticeable.

Aroma has a touch of smoke to it. Sweet caramel and roasted nuttiness. Semi-sweet and slight spice. Not as floral-ly or yeasty as I thought it may be. The wine comes through at just the right amount, imho.

Again, nice soft touch of wine essence in this one. It's a bit smoky and nutty. I'd guess this as a scottish or even an old ale. Just not as much that 'belgian yeastiness' as most other Belgians. Caramel supplies a notch of sweetness, then the syrah comes into play. Soft tannins give it a dryness, and the black pepper that syrahs usually have is present in the finish, nice and soft like.
Very drinkable, this is a nice beer.
